I was thinking maybe you shield rep one of the NPCs in order to get a flag of some kind? Flagging rules have all changed since I last did this, so maybe that's not possible.

Thats what he uses the salvage drone for. Set the salvage drone onto the wrecks and get flagged. But me and high sec mechanics are distant acquaintances.

No the salvage one is just to **** the bears off, they can be rather pissy about their wrecks, you can't get flagged with salvage, you need to take something. As For the shield drone , flaming phantom more or less had it, if you time it with the moment you go suspect it looks kinda like you just agressed them .
Sometimes it's enough to get them to fire if they are already giving you the carebear stare (yellow boxing).

Lol, so salvaging stuff from a wreck doesn't count as "taking something"

Did you know you can shoot and kill the drones of someone with a suspect flag without triggering a limited engagement?
nether did we so he got on the old support ticket train and apparently its "working as intended".
without quoting a gm (nope never not at all) the reason for this is so that limited engagement cannot kept permanent by using a non damaging offensive module to keep the engagement going forever...
anyone else confused?

That's the thing with "working as intended". They say that as if it means anything. Just because it's working as intended doesn't mean it should be that way or that it's the right way to do it.
Imagine all of the ridiculous ideas that could be propagated under the guise of "working as intended"
"well, it's working as intended, so there's nothing we can do about it! It don't matter if it's completely broken and basically stupid, we intended for it to work that way!"
"Oh, well that means it's working as intended, I guess there's no problem then!"

anyone else confused? Not sure what the GM you definitely aren't quoting might have meant but I guess that the reason is so that when someone leaves their drones behind (maybe you've killed their ship, maybe they warped off and didn't scoop them in time) they can wait out the timer - drones being a little bit wierd can sometimes continue shooting (and causing damage) after their host has popped... which might renew the timer... And the practice of shooting abandonned drones to prevent the owner logging off safely has been around for... many, many years... |

Wuu Tang wrote:I'm just looking for ideas, Doesn't matter if its for pvp, mission or mining. What's a fun ship to fly in your opinion and why?
The ship I had the most fun with was a beam fitted Zealot.
The fun came from fighting IRC/ED when INIT was flying RR BS fleets, and IRC/ED were using BS-only overviews
Actually now I think of it, even more fun was flying a Viator from Paragon Soul to Jita and back, in the days before BRs could fit covops cloaks. Take a load of Meta 4 mods, Zydrine & Megacyte to Jita, sell it, then use the ISk to buy T2 mods, implants and faction ammo to run back through Catch and Stain. Damb Jump Freighters ruining the small independant businessman!

Dictors. Easily the most fun I have is zipping around, farting bubbles, and blasting support and tackle ships......until I explode in a ball of fire. I can fly most any sub-cap, but Dictors are the most fun.
They are welcome in every null sec fleet, so I always have a spot regardless of the doctrine we're using. They are cheap, to the point they are often freely handed out by the alliance. so I can have a couple in stock and ready to go. They often act as advance scouts, cloaky eyes on a gate, and hero tackle when a target absolutely needs to be held long enough for your fleet to arrive. After their buff, they are even more fun, since you might actually survive to take part in the fight.
It's the class of ship I recommend all new PvP'ers to strive for. Low end skills make them accessible, the cost makes them affordable, their utility often makes them free, and you won't ever be just 'tagging along' with a fleet because you don't have the skills/isk to fly some shiny DPS boat. You are a contributor from the moment you fly one.
Hands down the best training investment I've made in Eve was to fly the Interdictor class of ships.

I've been having a lot of fun with the pilgrim and vargur recently. Feels good when u decloak and manage to land tackle after a 5s delay stagger ur neuts and activate ur tracking disrupters. Release drones send them to attack align out wait till he dies or backup shows up. Assess the situation. If it another cap based turret ship u might still win. If it looks bad warp off leave the God damn drones and gtfo. And no the guy u tackled should not be able to stop u leaving cos he's having cap issues lol. |

I actually used this back when the ship was projectiles but the principle still stands. It is quite agile and fast but does **** dps (~220) but I have gotten a surprising amount of kills with it. It is really the probe launcher that does the trick. Generally you would aim at targets cruiser or smaller, but you would either sneak up on or probe out the target, orbit at a comfortable 25km, and spam webs, missiles, and drones. Most ships won't be hitting you out that far and those that will you would avoid anyway. This works quite well in FW space popping those deadspace fit frigates who think they are safe warping off to their safespot when you enter their site. Probe them out in like 10 seconds >> warp in >>pewpew >> collect faction/deadspace mods. For those that are already aligned when you land in their safespot, I find cloaked ramming does the trick if you can position yourself so.

My favourite PvE ship is the Vexor, I run two of them as a fleet and blast through level 3's, usually to fix Corp jump clone access standings after someone accepts a forbidden mission (we used to pod those players in the good old days).
On roams I like to fly Talwars or Dragoons or any destroyer if a free choice is allowed, otherwise as FC dictates. This can be fun, heaven is flying around the furball picking targets at will until somebody finally notices you and targets! - boom! Consider Agony Unleashed to get educated in PvP in small fleets and move on to Greygal and her RR for Sunday fun.
Individual PvP for me at present consists of mainly targeting CODE pods (this really sickens and annoys them) and involves expensive fast targeting fits in interceptors or the like. This is great fun, especially when they eventually come after you!
I have enjoyed reading these threads, some interesting ideas and info. I will have a look at dictors :)

I have 2 typhoon fits
The armor torp phoon with geckos. Even if your neuted to hell she will just sit there pounding the living daylights out of stuff.
The other is the rapid heavy missile kite fit which is most enjoyable.
However if you really want to have some fun look at the stats the polarized torps give out with a bunch of drones on a fleet typhoon. Yes shield fit it. I think we fitted one the other day that had some nuts dps of 1800-2400.
However back on track my favorite most fun ship is the phobos. I just love that bit when they have 6 stabs in the lows and still cant warp
On the third day after your birth myself and my sister's will come to you and decide your fate.
