Kill everything but one frigate (or whatever the smallest ship is). Wait. the same spawn will return in a bit, withing a few throsand metres of the surviving frigate within several minutes.
its a good way to keep those high level BS spawns coming.

when u have a battleship spawn, leave the frig are cruisers that are with them alive and they'll spawn again in 20 minutes. Thats how u chain them the best.

Find a spawn Kill all but 1 small ship Sit and wait for it respawning
Sometimes you might have to wait several minutes for 1 to spawn or the whole spawn may respawn.
Sometimes they don't like being chained and will disappear/warp off instead. ___________________________________________ http://www.eve-tutor.com

Just don't kill the whole spawn. If there are 2 Battleships and 3 frigs, leave 1 frig alive. Best shoot it into structure, then you can always recognize it and leave it alive. Do that in a couple belts and you can cycle between them and kill the respawns.
Edit: Damn, you guys are fast. Plenty of answers now.

You just pop the bs and leave the frigates/cruisers/bcs in the spawn alive.
Doesnt speed up though, im sure someone has an accurate figure but off the top of my head it feels as if it takes around 10 - 15 minutes for the the bs to start re-appearing in the spawn.
If you get a crappy spawn pop the whole lot and it will be replaced with a fresh random spawn but takes a little longer to re-appear. Again, off the top of my head, feels around 15 - 20 mins for a fresh spawn.

It used to - not anymore
There is no more chaining in the traditional sence - now its just respawns the NPC gang if you leave a member alive.
This is different from chaining, which does not exist anymore. What used to happen was as follows - when you chained, as time went on, enemies respawned faster and faster. Eventually they respawned the second you killed them. This created a big problem once somebody discovered that he could tank a newbie spawn in high sec with all rats bar at least 1 out of range of smartbombs...... and run a 24/7 tank + smartbomb setup to make 1million a second afk..... --- Slot 10 Akemons Modified 'Noble'Zet 5000 implant +8% Armour FREE |

Edited by: Spanker on 26/09/2006 11:56:48 Don't know how long you others have been playing but I remember how it was like back in the good old day. The term "chaining" comes from a golden era of rats respawning as fast as you could kill them. Kill them off faster and it meant they respawned faster. It was so fast you couldn't even take a **** without messing it up. Also, they respawned at roughly the same spot, so you could specialize your setup for maximum dagame at a certain range and just blast away without needing any tank besides a rudimentry emergency repper. Now those were the days!

Now people saying that theres a fixed respawn time on rats is complete bull, I've had BS's respawn on me mid fight while i've been working on the second BS in the spawn. If the respawn rate was fixed I think they may have missed a few npc's
