I'm interested in any tips (from Dominix pilots) for doing the first pocket of this mission. Before last night it was the only mission that I passed on but I finally decided to give it a try, my setup was as follows
3x heavy named NOS (24km range) 1x medium NOS 2x drone range module (really only need 1)
5x tech2 cap recharger
2x tech2 large armor repairs 3x explosive, 1x kinetic, 1x thermal armor hardners all tech2
warriors, valkeries, berserkers, bouncers all tech2 apart from the bouncers obviously as there are no tech 2 sentries.
The rest of the mission was easy, dont think i had to use the 2nd repper once after the first pocket, but that first pocket was chaos. Warped in and killed as many frigs as possible but had to warp out. 2nd attempt I managed to stay until all rats dead. Unless there is a better way to do this I had every rat in the pocket on me from the drone agro, both armor reps on the whole time, had to NOS like a madman, my cap went below 20% many times and below 10% a couple of times too but somehow I managed to keep switching targets for more NOS and got the cap back over 30% and kept those 2 reppers going the whole time. Not once did I over-repair infact armor was at less than 50% almost all the time.
Just looking for some tips really, only way I can think of improving my setup is to buy 2 very expensive armor reps, but whats the point if thats the only mission i need them for. -----------------------------

I am soloing the Angel Extravaganza lvl4 with a Raven, but i can imagine some of your problems. This mission has a drone bug in the 1 level. I would reccomend to fly far away, try as much as you can regarding your targetting range. I would try to deploy drones at 69 or better 89km and test the aggro bug. if you dont get instantly attacked by 3/4 stage, then you should be able to do it with drones, by my opinion, attacking one group after another. . I would also think about shield tanking the dominix, because the main damage is explosive and explosive is the highest shield resist. i would try it with damage control in low slot for better resists. . with armor tanking, you could try batteries for cap boosting too.

It might be worth your time investing in one/two faction armour reps.
The cap and fitting saved comes in handy when it comes down to the wire like you said it did a few times.

try swapping out one of the explosive hardners with a T2 EANM, then train up the amour compensation skills to lvl4, this should give you a better all over tank.
I dont know the math on it so I cant say for sure. ----------------------------------------------- Want to join a fun corp that do most things in eve Join "suicidal" channel and have a chat |

From memory I did what Depko suggested, flew out to max gun range and plinked which ever group I was interested in to get them to come to me (within 55-60k from 80ishk) - then unleashed the drones on them. Seemed to work fine.
I also remember making a small fortune from that mission, which was nice.
Setup wise, I had a similar low setup but maybe with a eanm2 instead of whatever the lowest dmg was since I dropped the second repper.

I am using a faction xlarge shield booster and i could solo all lvl4 (including the "In The Midst Of Deadspace") in very resonable time. I had to warp out once in "In The Midst Of Deadspace 1/5", but nowhere else. for same crazy reason are the shield faction boosters more energy efficient than faction armor repairers, even if tech I/II armor rep. are more energy efficient than tech I/II shield boostes.
