They're not always in it for the money: often, their chief, or sole, objective is to annoy you. Since you were spurred into creating this post, they'll think they succeeded.
Best response to any and all "griefing" tactics is to completely ignore the offender. If he thinks he isn't upsetting you, he'll get fed up of trying sooner or later.

Actually, a better response would be to jettison a few more cans and tell them to go ahead and take it, tell them you're feeling charitable towards the socially challenged and economically disenfranchised. |

That would only prove they're getting to you; if they have the wit to see your veiled insults. Since they're very thinly veiled, I think they will

But if they start bragging about it over the (NPC) Corp channel, and are so easily outwitted (As proved by the guy being reduced to nothing but swearing and insults), it's hard to ignore them.
Anyway, I'm not bothered in the slightest about losing the Ore, it's only 20k Veld after all.
But I do wonder....the "attack" came right after I told someone to stop complaining about...you guessed it...Ore "theft".
My guess is that the offender, in this case, was that guy's Alt.

Well being the master of ore theft I am shocked and amazed someone could only manage 20 units.
I want His/her name please.
I will tell them off then enroll them in my special school for those with gifted fingers.

Another thing you can do, if you see an indy heading for your stash is to own the container :)
Would also be cool if you could put a cloaking device on an indy, and have it decloak and grab the ore before the guy trying to steal can.

Wouldn't help. The whole problem with ore scavengers is that if you drop-mine to a garbage can, there's way more ore in the garbage can than will ever fit in your indy; he'll just take some of the stuff that's still left.
