What if two ships could connect together via hatches, combined with a docking timer of sorts... Maybe with a mutual password for shields (something like the POS shields have), which players could arrange between themselves through chat. If the passwords don't match, ships cannot connect to each other...
So the principle would be:
1. The players in chat wanna exchange stuff 2. They meet in a safespot 3. Arrange a password for connection 4 One player right click's on another player ship, and ofc choose option connect 5. Then a password window opens for both players, and if they match connection begins 6. After that a docking timer engages (depends on the ship size)
And voila...
Ofc there could be involved factors that disable weapons or something similar while connected...
There's my breadcrumb... This is similar to what I suggested, the only difference is the password. This gave me a different idea though. A deployable with a warp disrupt bubble and a mechanism to prevent aggression inside it that serves to activate a trade window between ships.

Let me reiterate my earlier point. The is nothing stopping you from making trades in space with the current system. If you want more security in that system, it is up to you to provide that security. There is no need for more coded crap for no reason other than you don't want to use the current system.
EvE is hard. It's harder if you're stupid.

Sure, we'll just sit outside of the bubble and blow you up because you cannot shoot back, it's quite of a good idea.
Now, just limit it to jetcan amount per normal cooldown and you have a feature. |

Chill, bro, it is just an idea. It won't be on Tranquility tomorrow just because I wrote it here. This is a discussion forum.
A warp disruption bubble would prevent the people inside it to warp away so this does not makes trades through it exactly safer.

Yes, it's good to have that possibility. It is safe for two players to trade while inside it but it does not prevent outside ships from engaging them.

This could even be a feature from Small Mobile Depots. Agressive modules are disabled while trade window is active but the disrupt bubble will only be activated in null or wh space, ofc.

What? I know this isn't exactly the topic at hand, but bookmarks have been around for... a very long time. Since I started playing, anyhow, which means they date back to at least Cold War in... 2005.
Unless you're talking about having them actually visible in space instead of from a menu. That is indeed recent. |
