Caldari ships are fine at solo PvP. In fact, having more mids just benefits you. Just have to know how to use them. _______________________________________________

They don't get more mids, once you've factored in any form of shield tank they actually get less.
The Armageddon gets more useful midslots than the Raven fgs (unless you armour tank of course).

While true , just because a ship has been made with certain styles in mind , more mids usually = shield tanks , more lows usually = armour tanks , doesn't mean you have to use them like that , you gonna tell me that every Raven pilot uses a shield tank ? plus just becasue you have the slots to have a tank doesn't mean people use them for a tank either .
Classic example is a sniper ship , uses all the mids and lows to boost guns/launchers and has nothing of a tank , what I'm trying to say is that theres always a way to work around a ships weaknesses and build on it's strengths , if you don't have a shield tank use ECM , if u have the bare minimum use a armour tank , be a sniper whatever , no one race sucks totally , nevermind what the amarr thread says .
All it boils down to is every race wanting to be a pwnmobile , how fun would that be ?

A raven works great with either an armor tank + ECM or a minimal shield tank + ECM.

I'll take a Raven to a POS takedown any day of the week, but personally I say Amarr or Gallente if you want to solo/pirate in anything larger than a frigate/intie/af/etc.

Originally by: KayaYautja No caracal i have ever fought has won against my thorax, most of those pilots were not fools and not exactly noobs.
Most Caracal fittings I see are pretty crap these days.
They either use assault missiles, don't have dual large shield extenders, or both.
A platerax with electrons (1600 + electrons or 800 + ions with at least one or two hardeners) can beat a Caracal though.
However, if a well-fitted Caracal starts far enough away to get 3-4 volleys off before the Thorax gets in range (20-30km away), it will probably win regardless.
The main issue with the Caracal is in order for it to be the most effective, it needs T2 heavy launchers (which with Fury heavies can give 35-45% extra DPS over Limos). But they cost so much that a cheaper Thorax with heavy electron IIs is more cost-effective.
That kinda defeats the purpose of solo piracy though. I would think that your set up would have to be effective @ at LEAST 20km for your warp scram to work. Otherwise, a smart pilot would simply turn around and run away.
