Anyone noticed that the standard package from Icelandair means you miss all the fun on Saturday 11th as the flight back to UK leaves at 8:30 in the morning? Poor trusting fool I was to expect the travel to be at each end of the event and not in the middle, so I booked it
I tried to get this changed, but the rather rude and unprofessional rep on the other end of the phone flagged that the booking was unchangeable and unrefundable. They finally agreed that they would change for a one off charge of 155 quid.
We do get a choice of vendors for our air travel nowadays, and I know who I will not be traveling with again.
Have I missed something, is there another way, or have others seen the same???

the package is not specially laid on flights, they are using normal scheduled flights which has always been the same. If you checked before you confirmed you would of been given the option of a 1600 flight back to london if you were flying from heathrow for the sunday or like me you would of opted to extend your stay to monday so you can sleep on sunday :p
in short, yes you 'missed' something.

I had similar flight last year (but it was 07.40-ish) and the trick is.. DO NOT SLEEP :D
Sleep you can do when you are on the plane or when get home.
Worked perfect for me last year and you will even be able to have breakfast at the hotel before the bus leaves.

Last year I phoned Icelandair up to book instead of using the web as I wanted to leave a day early so I would not miss the early comers party.

Thx all. I clearly missed something and was far too trusting. As per the sound advice given, I will not sleep
Will also continue to badger Icelandair on getting a later flight. Given that one way flights are about 500 quid, maybe the charge for changing was not too bad
