VERY playable, I suggest those of you who are experiencing them clear their cache, or delete it entirely. ---

I will try that this evening, but I think the constant CTDs some people are experiencing is a more complex issue than this. There is a thread here about the constant CTD problem and I would encourage people to contribute to that, giving as much info on their PC system as they can....there MUST be something that we all have in common

I never had too much problems with EVE crashing during play. Maybe it's because I play only in window mode with disabled sound. I tried fullscreen mode but EVE crashes often during switching applications.
But I had some lockups when screen frozes for long time. Unfortunately from the Dragon patch EVE is far from playable.

Not saying everything is fine, but the game is surely playable.
Actually yesterday, once I got back on the server at around 20:00h everything worked perfectly for me.
So lets hope that today at peak hours the cluster keeps performing ok.
Greetings, CyberGh0st.

Ditto that. I've never really had any problems with EVE. I crash more playing Oblivion -_-;
Again, good system, and I take care of it. Solid anti-virus, hardware firewall, regular spy/mal/ad-ware scanning, and Firefox+trusted sites as my only other internet activity. Well, almost "only"
Haven't had time to be on much since yesterday's patch, but it seems smooth to me. Had troubles on my lappy, but that's got Windows Vista on it, so it wasn't too much of a surprise.

Playable, after I reinstalled EVE from scratch yesterday afternoon. Post-patch my entire UI reset to default, so I said screw it and just reinstalled the whole game.

Yea if people are having problems the best bet is do completly delete eve and all the cache and reinstall eve from the full build, itll get rid of alot of problems. If they still have problems after that its either game or comp related.

Please, if you had bothered to read the thread about those people who suffer constant CTDs you would realise that we are all PC savvy. Many of us, I'm sure, will have built our own rigs and know how to maintain them. Comments like these are just unhelpful, puerile and offensive.

You feel personally offended by this comment?
It is just plain true, 1st make sure that all is working well on your own PC, then start posting crap on the forum, not the other way around.
And some people THINK they got it all covered, but many times they think wrong.
Also it is not the users fault that the Eve Client gets messed up, but the user CAN solve it by reinstalling.
Greetings, CyberGh0st.

Yes I do feel personally offended by that comment. The posters haven't been having any troubles with his EVE crashing, and because of that assume that we haven't got a clue about how a PC works, that we don't maintain them and that we are just on these forums to whine about CCP. You are assuming the same things. Nothing could be further from the truth in my case, and I'm sure in the majority of other cases too. Have you read the thread about the problem? If you haven't, perhaps you should before coming on here and accusing me and others of posting crap.
OK, let me explain my problem to you. Before the patch this week EVE was behaving itself reasonably well....I'd get a CTD every now and again but certainly nothing to worry about. Patch installed and the client CTDs 6 time in 40 mins....nothing else on the PC has changed. Now please tell me that this has nothing to do with CCP. My PC is well maintained, all drivers are up to date and everything else on it runs flawlessly. Yes, of course the problem has something to do with my hardware also, some sort of subtle incompatibility or the such like. Reinstallation of the client is something people have tried and in most cases this hasn't helped. Now if you had bothered to read the other thread you will have noticed that I am trying to encourage people to post their system specs to see if there are any similarities or a pattern that may help us solve the problem.
So please, if you don't have anything constructive to contribute, don't bother posting.

awwww. hope is lost :-(
ppl blaming ccp, or me who have NO trouble
believe me iam happy i dotn have ctd and random crashes its "frigging hard" to get a PC to "perfect" state that it doesnt crash
and patching IS a memory related issue.. i did inofficial supprot for ultima onlien patches, and i noticed a lot fo players who had trouble patchig client. it it 97,32% the client fault since bad memory MESS up some thign. 1 bit wrong and your whoel client goes corrupt
but ok, just blame eve/ccp/others.
since i gto (gladly) no memory issues and crashes, i feel free to state "its mostly user side related". sure. there is some lag, but ui never had patch issues.. dude.. please... just... check www.memtest86.com or so.. give it a try

Edited by: Jeretomi on 29/09/2006 10:29:49 Sorry for getting a bit worked up there, but this is a really frustrating problem for a considerable number of people. We have tried all sorts of things believe me. I have run MemTest and there is nothing phyiscally wrong with my PC. If I was a having pysical issue with my RAM I would be noticing problems running other applications and not just EVE. My theory is that there is a subtle incompatibility problem between the EVE client and some part of the hardware those who have the problem are using, be it processor, soundcard, whatever....it's just a case of finding the similarities

Well lucky you! Problem is, my machine is fixed, and the only problem I have is a fresh install of EVE crashing every so often.
People report (not undivided) succes with running in windowed mode and/or without sound. Now these are ugly workarounds, but the bugs still remain and need to be fixed.
I'm with Jerotomi here, so please add your rig's details, so we may pinpoint where EVE is incompatible with certain hardware. That should help the devs fixing this, so we all can have a nice game experience.

I have done all these things in the last 2 weeks.
Reinstalled my OS. Included downloading all new drivers, "video card was the only new one out". I was gonna do this anyway.
Reinstalled EVE.
Replaced my network card.
Still I am getting dropped every 20 minutes or so.
As it stands right now other than Microsoft Office, EVE is the only other app running on my pc.
Maybe one day I will be able to play again. Few more patches maybe.
