Intelligence 11 Perception 9 Charisma 8 Willpower 5 Memory 10
Are these horrible starting stats for someone wanting to be mainly PVPing? I was reading the forums and keep seeing that Willpower is a big plus... and I don't have much Willpower (curse my parents). Plus, I'm think I might have over done one stat and ignored another. Should I recreate my character?

Edited by: Isip on 28/09/2006 13:41:45 Looks okay to me. Charisma might be a bit high, as it is normally the least used attribute. Willpower is generally secondary to Perception primary skills, so you are better off to put your points into Perception. Your higher than average Intelligence and Memory will help out with your tanking and support skills.
For PVP high Perception and Intelligence with low Charisma is the normal recommendation.
It would help if you quoted your attributes before learning skills. Everyone starts with a total of 39 attribute points. The numbers you gave us total 43, so you must have 4 levels of learning skills in there somewhere.

The best suggestion I can make with this...is when you begin the game just even out Intel, willpower, percep, and memory. Charisma can be left behind slightly...but even out the others and rely on learning skills as well as implants to specialize attributes later on.
Just my two cents :)

Doesn't look bad to me.
The important thing is to get a portrait, and name you like.
The second important thing is to get a race theme you enjoy.
Other than that pretty much don't worry about it. You can't really screw up your stats that bad. Just try to keep it even.

It looks like youÆve already trained some learning skills since everyone starts with 39 points total.
It looks like your attributes are less than ideal, but that doesnÆt mean you should reroll either. Willpower is far more useful than charisma is for most characters. However what matters is the long term, not so much the short.
(Assuming you havenÆt raised your willpower already.)
With learning skills you can add 9 points to each attribute (Actually you can add 10 but itÆs not really worth the training time) so you will have a base 14 willpower. Then you will eventually get an implant (they are getting cheaper) and add another +3 or +4 on top of that. Assuming the much cheaper +3 you will have a 17 willpowerà And the learning skill adds 10% to that once itÆs fully trained. So you will have an 18.7 willpower.
The æidealÆ character (general purpose character, anyway) has a 9 in everything except charisma, which is 3. This is only possible with one of the new races. Everyone else has to compromise somewhere.
But if you had the ideal character you would end up with (9+9+3)*1.1=23.1 willpower. So you would only train willpower related skills about 80% as fast as the ideal character. A skill that takes him 20 days to train would take you about 25 days to train. But no skill relies totally on willpower so the difference wouldnÆt really be that pronounced. And you will train charisma based skills a bit faster than the æidealÆ character.
ItÆs up to you. I would guess that over a yearÆs time you would lag two or three weeks behind. ItÆs not that big of a deal really. If your character is just a couple days old and you arenÆt too attached to the name/face I would restart. (transfer your wealth to the new character) But if you like the name or if you are a couple weeks old then donÆt worry about it.
If you do restart, you probably wonÆt be able to get the ideal character. (ItÆs not worth having a race you donÆt care for just to get perfect stats.) But try to get everything (except charisma) to at least a seven, eight would be better. And favor int/per if you favor anything at all. Do that and you are fine.

Thank you for the in-depth analysis of spreading attributes properly. :)
I think I'll just stick with my character, since being already 18 days old. Thank you everyone else, as well.

Dont forget that charisma is not only primary for trade skills ( relatively low rank), but also leadership skills ( which have high rank in advanced). With your stats as is, you are fairly balanced. You can learn gang skills faster than some, should you choose to get into command ships later.

Also consider that Memory and Intel' scores are great for PvP pilots who need to train skills other than Ships and guns. If you plan to fly a recon frig or cruiser, those skills are going to make the secondary training demands (Eletronics upgrades, eletronics, cloaking, etc) that much faster.
They are also good for support roles in small gangs and large fleets when it comes to ECM (in all varities) and the subskills for those as well. The ships and weapons may take a little longer but all the nifty toys come much faster.
