hey, i have been a miner for most of my 2-3 years on EVE and trader on the side. i have notcied that the good ore in 5-3 sec systems are, well, just gone. i'm taking a swing at it and think that the respawn rate of the belts are lower than when i started playing and the Marcos [people with many account that mine the belts dry of anything worth it and selling the ISK for read cash] time them selfs the current repawn and able to mine the belts dry before any one else get any.
this is making me thinking of turning pirate myself cause i don't have the power or skill to aventer into 0 sec space. the ore shortage would show that there seems to be more pirates in the game too. one could think that if all the PC pirates got together, they could start taking empire space.

Edited by: Tamulan on 28/09/2006 16:25:47 I mine in both high and low sec all the time, and have never run into an ore availability problem. The ore is there, you just need to look for it away from high traffic areas.

I feel your pain! Hopefully (and if I understand it correctly) Kali's Exploration thing might make finding ore a little bit easier. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. ---

What's the problem? The 0.5-0.7 can belts are alive and well.

I think one cause is just the number of people who can fly a covetor (or other barge/exhumer) just keeps going up and up because if they trained for it 2 years ago, they still can. (This is nota 'lets kill off old charecters' post. So it more or less comes downt o more people, same number of belts. I see corps strip a belt in about 3-5 hours all the time in high and low sec. Seen it happen in 0.0 too by an exhumer fleet that needed to get a lot of trit for a revelation.
Kali and the potentially system wide belts could be a fix for this, or simply increase the amount of ore available. It will make prices plummet of course, but it may be a good solution. --------------

Edited by: Gamer4liff on 28/09/2006 23:21:18 Don't expect much love over this problem from this section. But Really, something should be done. And In a way I think Kali will have some explorable belts that are not permanent or something funky like that I think. That might help the enterprising miner.

It more a question of fining the right systems. I (my main's) mine in a system and regulaty spend 3 to 4 hours and don't finish stripping the belt. I am using a large barge and a hulk and the system is 0.8.
I have been forced out of other systems by Isk farmers so I had a break fitted a fast ship with an ore scanner and opened the map, looking at sec status and number of pilots in space. From here I compiled a list to systems to visit.
The down side is I am a number of jumps from the markets and full refine is not possibly at the station. My solution was to get a freighter and transport the ore while I was busy doing other things out of game.

ore missing in .4 and .3 systems? Did you mean 5-7 sec systems? I am sure your local pirate band would LOVE to know (as much as I hate to suggest it) when a group of unaware pilot of vessels using strip miners has a set schedule. Talk about an invitation to a ganking.
