Here's one I discovered today: Strip Miners Are Not Turrets They're in the "Turrets & Bays" section of the Market, and of eve-online.com's Item Database. They have a turret-like graphic. They're in a section ("Mining Lasers") where every other item is a turret. But no, Strip Miners Are Not Turrets. You are supposed to know this somehow. Don't ask me how, I wouldn't know, because I've spent hours searching forum posts, player guides, reading and carefully re-reading item info. Nothing official or unofficial that I've found indicates that Strip Miners Are Not Turrets. This is an interesting topic for me because I just bought my first Procurer. Sure, I should have been more careful to notice that Procurers have no turret slot - after all, I was under the foolish assumption that Mining Barges should fit Mining Lasers - but it's interesting to note that, short of acquiring this information second-hand, there's absolutely no way to know that they are Not Turrets. So I'm posting it here. For whatever reason, if you should need an answer to the question "are Strip Miners turrets?", you can just read this forum post, the only (known) documentation of the fact that Strip Miners Are Not Turrets

However, I will argue that whether or not they are turrets is completely trivial. Facts that ARE documented: -strips require 12000 cpu. -therefore, no ship except a barge can fit them, whether they're turrets or not. -they do successfully fit on barges. -ergo, their hardpoint standing is meaningless; they fit where they're supposed to and not anywhere else. I think your real complaint is not "strips are not turrets", but rather, "my barge has no hardpoints." However, the fact that barges have no hardpoints IS documented, so if you phrased your complaint in that form it would be clear to everyone that you have no real grounds for complaint. If you were trying to put strips on a barge, you'd have no problems. If you were trying to put some kind of thing on a ship that's not designed for it, then you learned your lesson. Don't try to manufacture an issue out of a simple mistake.

Further, the fact that you can only mount X strip miners unsuccessfully to another ship is also interesting. If you have 2 turret slots and you try to fit 3 strip miners to a ship, it won't let you; it will tell you the ship has run out of turret points for fitting.

Regardless of your interpretation of the Weapon Upgrades skill, it does not alter the CPU requirements of any type of mining laser. Regardless of your interpretation of the Weapon Upgrades skill, it does not alter the CPU requirements of any type of mining laser. Try it out if you're still skeptical. Also the missed fact that 'Weapon Upgrades' affects WEAPONS only. I dont recall a strip mining laser ever being a weapon.. Proud Member of the Anti Whine 14

Also, contrary to popular belief exotic dancers are NOT strippers.
