Hi, I have a few questions regarding loot and objects deployed in space.
Wrecks and containers have three different colours under normal circumstances, white, yellow and blue and this is a bit confusing,
Yellow = Definitely not allowed to touch without getting a crimewatch flag Blue = Definitely are allowed to touch
White = kind of depends what it is. wrecks yes, secure containers that someone else put there , no errm and a few other things like jet cans.. no cargo containers that have fallen from a wreck you destroyed .. yes . so this bit is a bit confusing
You can set wrecks of ships you have destroyed to blue by right click + abandon
Some wrecks are automatically blue, I believe this is something to do with the criminal status of the ship that was destroyed or the ship that destroyed it.
Could someone clarify this a little for me,,

You're right in that Blue are "abandoned" wrecks that are a free for all and yellow are ones you need to be sneaky if you're nicking stuff from. White wrecks are created by either you or your corp, so those are fair game.
You're right in that containers get confusing - Secure Freight Containers share the white colour regardless of who's it is. The only white container you can loot from is the generic "cargo container" as it's listed on your overview.
For the question on what makes a wreck abandoned - they go blue after a set time, or if the person who made the wreck logs off for a while (I THINK - I suggest you double check that). Hope this helps! |

A player with a criminal flag, [ Any jettisoned wrecks or containers will be auto-abandoned ]
So for instance a gank team needs a ship there that is not destroyed by concord to loot the wreck of the victim faster than the victims buddies can get to it because it is available to all. |

Question: can you loot from secure anchored containers (which appear white, but have owners) without getting a criminal flag? Say, if they forget to set a password, or if you know the password? I think this is legit. |

With green safety, you can't perform actions that would earn you a suspect or criminal flag.
With yellow safety, you can't perform actions that would earn you a criminal flag
With red safety, there are no restrictions, so beware. |

You can take from Blue stuff.
You can take from White stuff.
You COULD take from Yellow, but you get a Suspect Flag and everyone can shoot / pod you for 15mins.

They could be useful for a "dead drop" situation. Let's say you are a spy in a corporation which has your full API key, and you want to transfer assets (or bookmarks, say) to another character without having any transaction appear on your wallet or contracts history. Or an even more extreme situation -- lets say you don't want *either* corp to know who the spy is, not even the corp that's paying you for spying. The solution could be to share these items via an innocent-looking cargo container, and also to receive your payments via treasures left in the dead letter box.

This is indeed how I recommend players transfer assets to alts that are disloyal members of corporations masquerading as newbies.
You should always transfer assets that could be acquired by a lucky new player (such as the very best highsec exploration drops, or faction loot that can drop in Angel Extravaganza 3).
OP - IIRC, if you are Crimewatch yellow or red carded, any wreck of yours (your own ship, or an NPC you kill) will be blue.

Interesting because it doesn't mention that in this description of the suspect flag.

I believe white wrecks are wrecks that you have access to. so wrecks that are yours or your corp mates or fleet mates still in fleet or fleet mates that logged off but have you set to a positive standing. I'm not 100% sure how fleet loot mechanics work but in some situations wrecks can go yellow on you when someone leaves fleet. Somewhat recently it seems all wrecks in null now are white.
It seems that blue and yellow wrecks you have a handle on.
As far as the other white things in space I would assume it means you have loot rights to it but that's a guess. As others have pointed out you can access secure containers anchored in space if you have the password.
For me I just think of wrecks as their own thing different from everything else with the single exception of jet cans which behave much like wrecks regardless of if they are player created or created by the server when you salvage a wreck with loot in it.
Again I'm not 100% sure of all the mechanics but I hope this helps clear things up for you. Also it might shed some light to note that I have been playing since 2009 and don't know the full answer to your question and while others in here have had some helpful info they don't either. |

You just proven to us that:
A. You are a very low class troll. B. You cant read. C. All of the above.
Cause first you claim it doesnt say it in the article, then quote the article about it.
I go for answer C
