So I am a 14-day trialer, Ive known about EvE for a long time being the old git that I am but alot of things I heard about the attitude of the players and the "mining grind" put me off. But since I have done Planetside, WoW, CS and all the other online games to death in the last 10 years I thought I would try EvE.
Its been fun, going between the WGs has been a bit dull, so has the mining but after getting my first non-free ship, with rail guns and getting a few missions under my belt I was seriously thinking about subbing even though the game is really getting on a bit.
So I get an invite to join a small Caldari based corp, its 19 jumps away but I looked at the route and thought that being careful I should be ok. Loading up my cargo bay with everything I had accumalated so far and set off ( my only worry was I couldnt get insurance for my ship).
All is going well a few jumps out, I am still really in noob space when I see huge ship sitting in front of the next wg, next thing I am targeted and he starts firing.
Well my little ship goes pop real quick, and so does my stuff, which really would be worthless to him but to a noob like me all I have.
The gate turrets are streaming firing him but he seems to take no notice and next I get pod killed.
So the question is why is someone like Icedneo camping the gates a few jumps out from the nooby area killing these all so really tough noob ships ?
I though grief play was against the EvE EULA ?
Anyway I have de-installed, just another lost potential customer.

killing ins no griefplay in Eve, unlike in some other games.
Griefplay is something like spamming one with evemails, convos or trapping freighters with cans in empire (which is fun bzw)

Edited by: Elliot Reid on 30/09/2006 10:51:56 It's a shame you decided to leave EVE but since you didn't like what happened to you it's proably best that you did.
I'm currently flying my alt down to my .0 home and have had some gate camp fun on the way but I accept the risk and get on with it.
Have fun with whatever you do next.
regards
<edit> My alt is a pure miner/industrialist with no combat skills at all so low sec and .0 are interesting for her. ___________________________________________________ Serenity Prime Is Recruiting |

Welcome to EVE.
Gatecamping is common at the chokepoints to 0.0 space and at gates in 0.4-0.1 systems that borders up to 0.5 space or above.
Your map is your friend. Study the functions of it, observe and use common sense.
Its part of EVE. Don't quit just because you had one bad experince (which actually you could see as a good experince). Learn, adapt and overcome

I could but I wont, I will go back to WoW as The Burning Crusade closed beta has now been announced for Europe.
So once again all those bored WoW'ers will leave what ever game there in (EvE included) and head back when it goes open beta shortly.
Fact is EvE is years old and there are ppl out there with too much time on their hands and too much ISK, and if camping gates is the thrill that you have to look forward to after years of play, then sorry **** this for a game of soldiers.

You know **** about the game, you didn't even bother research abit before playing, for you its JUST another MMO. WOW? Give me 2 months after i create an account there and i can beat any uberlewt pvper on your galaxy/shard/server/trashcan - that game is not worth mentioning, no challenge, 12-16y.o avg. community with some old gits over 35 in the middle.

You've been away too long otherwise you would know of the merged BGs, there arent any queues anymore.
Good luck with the mining, try not to fall asleep.

Just a word of advice for all those newbie players who do pack up all there stuff and do 19 jumps to go join a corp:
You probably won't make it alive.
Sell all your stuff, buy a shuttle, make sure your clone is updated and set it to your new home station. Set auto-destruct on shuttle, set auto-destruct on pod. Say hello to your new home.
Even if you have to sell your stuff at a loss still do it. Let your new CEO know in advance that you will need a frig and newbie fittings and ask if there is some sort of discount you can have. Any half decent CEO will see you right.
My views do not represent those of my corp or alliance. (Joined UKC 19/09/06) |
