Let me be the first to tell you people at CCP , if you want to know what you should be doing along side your programming efforts is to follow one of your own.
His name is Zrakor an EVE DEV, his replys over on the missions part of the forums is what weve been screaming for COMMUNICATION.
He has communicated better then most other CCP personnel have in the last few months, Zrakor you deserve a pat on the back and a raise in my book...

This is good news indeed. But also dont forget that most of the dev team is trying to debug and put new game content, and this is not done while u talk to the ppl all the time.

Ah, but does Zrakor get any work done? Or does he just spend all his time talking on the forums?

That one hits a little close to home... So if I get time-and-a-half for working overtime (on saturday), do my forum posts become 50% better? Let's see... Sure, everyone supports saving Einstein's brain, but when you put it in the body of a Great White Shark, suddenly you've "gone too far". |

Think weŚll have to let the new agent and standing system answer that one. Since missions are a vital part of this, you will (when I got his position right) see parts of his work in action with the next patch.

Indeed. I'm very happy with the way Zrakor is responding in the mission forum.
He has also tuned/fixed some of the strange missions I've wrote about there. For example the "search and destroy" mission for a lvl 2 agent where the location was 74 jumps away. He immediately tuned the area in which the location could be choosen (though it of course didn't take effect until next DT).

I hope others will follow Zrakor's example in the future. Communication is seriously lacking here.

To be fair, the mission area is like a little isolated game within Eve. It doesn't have much to do with the game engine, core bugs, etc. Other areas, like fixing roids and markets are more subtle and have far-reaching effects.
But yes, Papa Smurf and now Zrakor both stand out for willingness to discuss things on forums.

Actually I prefer a Dev getting a bit less work done and communicate a bit about his work, than getting a bit more work and leaving us utter clueless where this game is going...

I feel this is maybe a bit premature. Lets wait for the patch to land... If its the usual CCP***** up, will he be willing to face the flames on the forums then. That in my eyes will be the true test of communication. |
