Hello all,
I am hoping to increase my standing with the Center for Advanced Studies (CAS), but the lowest ranked agents (using the in game "Agents" tab on the Corp's information screen) is ranked at a Level 1, Quality 18. This requires a standing of approximately 1.0 with that corp in order to make them available to me, but my current standing is .07.
So, while I am aware that I can raise that standing with Connections skill, and potentially other Social skills as well, it does not appear possible to take my .07 to a 1.0.
I have been told that doing "faction" missions will raise my overall standing with CAS as well, but despite doing several missions for the Gallente Federation, my CAS standing remains at .07.
So, knowing that game developers rarely make something truly impossible, what am I missing? Any help is appreciated.

First, your Gallante Federation standing if over 1.0 as you suggested can substitute for the Corp standing. Essentially the game uses either the Faction or Corp standing, whichever is highter, for determining if you are eligible for a certian mission (also works for refining tax). So if you raise your Gallante Federation standing over the required amount you will be able to use the agent.
You can also raise Connections skill which will give you about .4 standing raise per level. Social skill improves the amount of standing you get per mission completed.
Hope that helps some. Safe flying. Wives ? Girlfriends ? what are they , they fit in a high-slot or something ?

OKay, if I am understanding the "Connections" skill, three levels of Connections, considering my deplorable current standing, should give me about a bonus of 1.2 to standings with this corp. Is that roughly correct?

Yes roughly, there is a very minor stacking penalty but it is still close to 1.2...not sure on the exact numbers. I have connections 4, after doing 1 lvl 1 mission for a .02 standing increase with a corp I have an effective standing of 1.61 so the stacking penalty isn't much.

Because if its the former, that won't help my situation at all. If its the later, well, I've already bought the Connections skill and am just waiting another 2 hours for my Social skill to hit 3.
Thanks for your help thus far!

You will get the bonus as soon as skill training finishes.
A corp needs to "know" you so they can give you the connection bonus, i.e. you have to do one mission for them before getting it, but since you already have a standing with CAS, thats not important in your case.
