Lost my first ship tonight, here is the story.
I logged in about 21.00 gmt and was just going to train a skill but met a corpmate (and a friend in real life) that I hadnŠt met in a long time. So after a few minutes we decide to raid a few convoys even tho I had only slept for 4 hours in the last 36.
We started checking out a gallantean station and to my surprise there is a 50k pirate there (gurristas) and a smaller one (merlin type). I was in a merlin and my friend in a badger so we know that we couldnŠt survive 2s against them. So my friend goes back and picks up a merlin and meanwhile I find out that the pirate is there because of a agent mission gone wrong and the guy who was doing the agent mission was still there, in a pod waiting for his friend to finish up the pirates.
Well me and my friend decide to help (yes in two merlins) and so we engage the pirates and finish of the smaller one quickly but then I hear the threat window flash up and the big one locks on. I try to warp out but am warpscrambled. Few seconds later IŠm in my pod.
I fully expected to be blown apart so I wasnŠt upset and it was just a merlin. The guy doing the agent mission was also nice enough to give me some money for my help/distraction.
Me and my friend now decide to do some mock battle and discover accidently a old spacestation with 5 despoilers (griffin like pirates if I remember correctly). As we were playing in bantams we go back to our base and go into merlins. I arrived before my friend and start shooting at the pirates. They returned the favor naturally but I wasnŠt really worried until I noticed that my shield was gone and I notice that my shield booster was not activated. Turns out that the shield booster was not set on autorepeat. Hull down to 20% so I try to warp away but they were faster and again that night I am in a pod.

LaneHacker: I do not believe dust puppy was whining about the whole issue, after all, it were only a couple of merlins.
DP however failed to mention that I as well almost lost my merlin ( I am the corp-mate he mentioned). For while we were convoy hunting I opened fire only 30km from a sentry gun, bad mistake on my part, but I just didn't notice the gun until too late. However I managed to escape, with my ship leaking plasma, and my heart palpatating...
This was a indeed a bad night, for neither me nor DP have ever lost a ship before (I am not counting the Bantam Xer0 destroyed during my first week of EvE....bastard! ). Save the whales, feed the hungry, FREE THE MALLOCS. |

Well last night was also a bad one for me lost 3 ships: 1st the inqusitor 2nd the executioner (trying to get the stuff back) 3rd the bestower (only this one annoyed me lot because I tried warping and got stuck on a astroid of 10min and then NPCs arrive and finish the job) ouch Thx to someone in local who was producing those, insta-replaced it (for a price ofcourse)
BTW I can remember not playing for couple of days after I lost my Imicus back in beta. (That stuff was really expensive back then)
Well to all ppl u havent lost a single ship yet, I can tell u its no big deal after a time u get used to it

Just woke up, but to be perfectly clear then I wasnŠt whining about the two lost ships or the lost modules. And losing two merlins is not devestating for me as I have a number of other frigates. I just wanted to share with you how stupidly I lost them actually I laughed both times.
I logged on again after posting and bought a Vigil and picked it up in a noob ship. Since I own a couple of those I decided to trash the noob ship... but what do you know I forgot to take the modules out of the ship hangar. ThatŠs when I thought it was a good time to go to sleep __________ Capacitor research |

Haven't lost any with this character, I pwn those Asteroids.
Having said that, my "old" character was blown up a lot...although never podded, funnily enough. o.O
