Edited by: Mad Scientist101 on 03/10/2006 15:48:42 Just a little discussion point regarding the impact of these forums in a war situation. Lets take BOB v ASCN for example .
To me it seems that the impact of the forums is not as great as it once was. I'll take BOB as an example.
Bob "had" forum warfare and proganda down to a T, they projected an image of superiority and class above all the other alliances in the game, that is up until now, so whats changed?
1)BOB player base, they used to be smaller and were made up of a large majority of 2003 players, these guys were not stupid and could very easily make someone who dared question their word look very stupid indeed. Nowadays BOB has some, how shall we say it, less than capable forum warriors within their ranks, which impacts on the image they try to portray.
2)public support for BOB, there was a time that when Molle made a thread, the majority of posts that came from people that were not in BOB were in full support of BOB, but no longer, the BOB threads have very little public support anymore, and while BOB will say this does not matter (they don't care what people think of them) it does impact on the power of the message. At the moment BOB's public support consists of Nez Perces and thats it.
So are BOB as potent on the forums as they used to be? Are ASCN as affected by BOB's propaganda machine as they may have been a year ago?
The simple answer is no.
BoB has changed, the forums have changed, but it seems BOB has failed to spot this and adapt to it.
Discuss.

The forums have changed?
Nah, they are still full of randoms not involved in our wars pretending they know why we are failing, why we will fail or any other halfbit lunacy they can think of.
And on the other side, we have tons of randoms making up posts telling us why we are flamers and trolls by, err, flaming and trolling us (just like you).
The hilarity of this war is that apart from a few silly posts by ASCN, they have remained pretty much off the forums. The majority of posts are from the trolls and flamers not involved in the war looking to score "forum points" on BoB because they simply can't score any ingame points on us.
As for any effect our posting has on ascn, I don't think you are in any position to comment and in fact, I doubt there are more than a handful of people in Eve who could truly comment on the effect of forum warfare as there are only a handful of people in Eve who know how to use it effectively and have done so during extended wars in eve.
However, the forums have a use but only when backed up with what occurs on the battlefield, ingame, where it counts, and on there we are still number one.
(Now watch for all those randoms flaming and trolling us in this thread and all following threads. None of them have ever had any success over BoB militarily in any sense.)

The simple answer is no.
Just to be clear, this is based on your experience as an ASCN member? Shouldnt you really let ASCN ppl speak for themselves?
