One thing i would like to see in Kali is moveable parts on guns etc. Like when the rails fire you should see the barrel of the gun being pushed back!
Any thoughts about that?

would a railgun have that kind of recoil? the artys and ACs would but would a railgun?

I don't want to sound rude...but I already have enough details eating computing power...if you want to add a new gun detail, how about actual missle launchers...

Agreed...
But yeah, railguns in theory wouldn't have any recoil, it's all through magnets.

Well, I belive railguns are powered by electromagnetic and therefore no moving parts and no visible recoil. But also I belive electromagnetic powered turrets souldn't make a sound either when there are no explosive giving the projectile speed so what the heck, gick the railgun recoil to. Having recoil on turrets would look really cool but that also needs larger turrets (like huge turrets (1/10 of shipsize)). And of course visible torpedobays.

the magnets only replace the propellant, they aren't recoiless. its very difficult to make recoiless weaponry, even recoiless rifles aren't recoiless. i dont quite understand the theory behind railguns or how / why it works, but it doesn't eliminate recoil. the magnets push against the projectile, and the projectile pushes against the magnets. for the ammount of energy being exerted to propel the round equal energy is pushing back against the gun.
as is the same with all guns. ( except for recoiless rifles, those are a little strange but not void of the concept )

You're still dealing with newtonian physics, so there is an equal and opposite reaction when the slug gets pushed out of the turret.
My understanding is that they're pretty light rounds, and since it's an acceleration effect, rather than an explosion like a projectile turret would use, the force is exerted over the course of the shot's progress down the railgun's "barrel", whereas the projectile turret's force is all generated in a single moment and dissipates slightly as the projectile moves from chamber to muzzle.
So yes, railguns have recoil, but it's softer than a projectile turret's recoil.
And you can add all the bells and whistles you want, as long as I can still use my blocky client and turn off my effects.
