when i have my locked targets up on display and i want to select one of them to focus my weapons on it, i click it, and usually it becomes the active target. but very often i click, and nothing happens. Sometimes i have to click as many as ten times. the radial menu comes up but sometimes the target is still not selected. most of the time it's just annoying but sometimes this could easily lead to losing a ship if you can't select the right ship to target in time.
sorry if this has been addressed before, i looked but couldn't find anything. |

That's because you have the Radial Menu delay set to none.
Map keys for Next Target and Previous Target if you still want to use the instant-Radial Menu. Or if you wish to fix the problem, you can adjust your Radial Menu delay to be slightly longer. |

Or you put the radial menu on a separate key. I have it put on my mouse wheel button.

What's a radial menu? You don't really use that, do you? I think what the OP is saying is, they're already targeted and showing as selected items on screen. He/she is clicking on the round dealy-do that's the mob and it's taking several clicks to bring the desired target to the fore...as it were. Personally, I find that clicky array a bit non-responsive as well, but figured f-all about complaining since "they" have so much else they'll never get to.
Treason never prospers. What is the reason?
Why, if it prospers, none dare call it "treason."

OOOORRRRRR you move your mouse while clicking. This activates the "move target icon" thing. Try and click-move (not press mouse button - move, just click) on target icon to see what I mean.

I find that CTRL+SHIFT+click is not perfectly responsive. Thankfully CTRL+click is and I can still cope.

I've never had a issue with the target system.. that the OP mentions.
Kinda off topic...
Only issue i have with it, & thats with my drones. They always want to go after something i don't want them to kill... I wish i could setup a kill order for them, or even "don't attack this target" , i think this would help loads.
EVEBoard ...Just over 18million skill points, each skill was chosen for a reason. I closed my eyes & clicked another skill to train... "BINGO...!!!" ... "This time i got something usefull"

Set the drones to passive and focus target. You'll need to tell them to engage a selected target in this case, default keybind for that is F I believe. |

Perhaps I'm just old and old fashioned but I dislike the radial menu thing, it's an annoyance that just impedes UI interaction (to me anyway). I bound it to some mouse button my mouse doesn't have and just target the normal way. |

Ahar. What are you on about.? <----- Brit idiom. He's already targeted. I can target ten mobs. I can even shoot ten mobs at the same time, but we all know we FOCUS FIRE, so we aim our guns at ONE of the ten. To do that you click on the CIRCULAR THING. You don't shift click it, you don't stand on your head (well most of us don't) and click it. You just CLICK one of those circular things and THAT target becomes ACTIONABLE, or live.
HE'S SAYING WHEN HE DOES THIS, it takes more clicks than is reasonable. Does anyone else have this problem? YES I do. Hey there CCP, he went on to say, can you LOOK at this?

What is your frame rate? I don't think the mouse in Eve is kept independent of the framerate, so if you have a poor framerate you may find that clicks don't register.
Unless that has changed since I last experienced it (years ago).

if you press ctrl then shift it works every time, if you press shift then ctrl it never works (or maybe it was the other way round?) if you press both at the same time, I think it flips a coin

I had a similar problem, due to my targets bar being too close to my high slots (they are arranged above my high slots)t. Moving the targets higher solved the problem.
