Karma is simply the golden rule: what you give out is what you receive; you reap what you sow, in the same form or another.
So according to the theory, if you were to kindly offer me a gift of 1000ISK, in turn you too would receive good fortune.
Furthermore, according to the rule, you reap what you sow. Therefore the more generous you can be, the more good fortune will be yours to come.
Lets try this experiment and report back here our findings. Please help me with my experiment (and take a piece of good karma yourself).
Peace my friends - and may good Karma come your way.

Okay okay - I don't need your ISK....
...but wouldn't it be interesting if there were some force at work that would ensure you got decent loot from those NPC battleships rather than a Small Shield booster I that normally drops.

Just ignore this guy and play the pass it forward game. Go to a newbie station, give a newbie 100-500K isk and ask only that they help three other people later down the line. This is almost like the guy who requested everyone send him a penny so he can go to college. It worked! But that is a tangent to the pay it forward idea.

^ Agreed. I find a strager in a noobie ship, give him a tier 2/3 frigate, and say "when you outgrow it, pass it on to someone else". A character by the name of Feta Solamnia did this, and it was my very first imicus, about 15 months ago. I'm fairly certain be became filthy rich trading t2 components (before the days of moon mining). -------------------------------------------

Karma exists - you dont get any money from me because you beg. See how you made that happen?

when i 1st returned to eve july 04 i was always giving and not taking.
any loot i got went to corp. always did that including in missions.
when jags were still fairly new i traded a crap load of tags for three of them and gave the jags to fellow corp members if they could fly them.
gave noobs a halping hand.. got one guy to collect my mission loot and every week on the monday he got paid. 50-100m depending on how good the refining was.
In the end. I got my navy apoc which sold for 5b isk. got another a week later and repeated the sale.
I used that isk to buy my corp a bpo and lotsa skill books for the corp.

Perhaps you should show your interest in good karma by sending me all the ISK people send you.

Karma isn't as effective when you help someone who dosn't really need it and infact is just lazy.
Think about it, what goes around comes around...
If you help someone who dosn't really need it, maybe you'll recieve help when you don't really need it (possibly not even THINKING that it was your Karma returning to you)
Now, if you help someone who REALLY needed it, you might circumvent a bad situation in whole, not even KNOWING that you just "spent" your Karma points to not even be involved in something bad. That is why you should always do good, cause you never really know just how much points you got in reserve.
Unless of course you get hit by a car, your house explodes, or tree falls on you paralyzing you. In that case, it was obvious that your ass was overdue, and you are etheir back at zero, or close to it.

Karma...hmmm. Not much into eastern mysticism, but the Golden Rule works for me usually.
Little over 2 weeks in and I think I am doing Ok.
Mainly because an old gaming pal gave me 2 of those expensive cargo thingers to fit my Osprey,(which I sold after I saw what they went for),then let me eat all the loot in his high level mission I "helped" with.(ie: fly around aimlessly while he and the npc's traded shots at over 50km,my max range being like 15-17 km.)
I try to help out someone thats newer and needing a few bucks for a specific goal, yeah. Do I believe that it will change my "luck",no.
I doubt it can even be tested reliably.I mean, whos to say it isnt random probability or whatever.Who's to say it is?
