Well, im thinking of buying a scorp for soloing 4's.
I was attracted by the 8 mids, so i could fit a really good tank, DPS isnt important if i can tank them longer. So, if i was to buy one, what sort of super tank could i fit?

Edited by: Rod Blaine on 04/10/2006 21:48:31 Well, 5 hardeners a booster and two amps you could fit. Just dont expect to break the tank of the hardest npc's.
I also doubt you'll be able to keep it up anyway, 4 lows ain't very many and a scorp isn't that good for cap
There's that and other reasons why nearly noone uses a scorp in lvl 4 missions, or any type of npcing actually.

Best Scorp setup for level 4's is a Raven.

Ok, well i fly Gallente mostly, specialised in Domi for the past 9/10 months. Dont fancy a Mega as i just want to ***** missions for a while. Am i better off going for a Raven then?

Can't fit an armor tank, not enough lowslots, that's clear :)
Can't fit a decent passive tank, lack of XLarge shield extenders. Actually, if they introduce them, passive shield tanked Scorpions could finally be viable in PvE. Right now, a passive shield-tanking Ferox out-tanks by far passive shield tanking BSs. Heck, it almost passive tanks the same amount of incoming DPS (with better buffer) as an active BS non-faction/officer perma-tank !
Can only fit a RESISTS + BOOST tank, but you won't get much better results than in a Raven, and the Raven out-damages a Scorp in PvE a lot more than the added "tankability" of the Scorpion, so overall Raven is much better for PvE (meaning, "faster", and thus also "safer"). ___
Sorry to burst your bubble, but if you want a good perma-shieldtank and don't care about DPS, then Ferox is the way to go. But I somewhat doubt you could deal enough DPS to effectively clear out some L4s, even with T2 (fury) heavies and T2 light drones.
Other than that, go with the Raven. Scorpion is almost exclusively for PvP. __ Always question everything. Including yourself. |

Just use the domi and spend your skillpoints on training up your drones and tanking skills.
A domi has a great tank as well.

Not when you dont go for nossing, or 5 caprechargers 2...It can keep 1 rep running than. _________________________________________________

Use a Dominix, its quite a care-free mission runner, for example:
6x Heavy Neutron II X5 web, 100mn AB II, 3x CPR II 2x T2 Hardeners (Kinetic & Thermal), 1x EANM, 2x CPR, 2x LAR II
Mix of Drones including Ogre II's, maybe sentries, plus some medium/light scount drones.
If you end up doing a mission against Angels/The Seven you'll need to swap one CPR for a Explosive Hardener II, otherwise that setup runs equally well against most mission enemies (Amarr/Caldari Navy, Mordus/Serpentis/Guristas, Sansha's/Rogue Drones)

Actually, a Dominix passive-shield-tanks better as a Scorpion, with less midlsots :) ESPECIALLY because of those extra lowslots AND the fact you deal damage with the drones, so you can pump'er full of NOSes in highs.
Dominix passive shieldtank ?
LOWS 7 SPRs in lows (yes, ALL of them, your cap recharge is insignifiant now, but shield recharge rate is *4.768 of previous... with L5 shield operation and 5% recharge time hardwiring/implant, it becomes *6.692 of base. More precisely, shield recharge time of 298.84 seconds.
MIDS 2 T2 large extenders (8575 base shield, 10718 with shield management 5, 11254 with 5% shield capacity implant) 3 T2 mission-specific hardners (effective about -75% vs primary damage, -55% vs secondary damage)
TANK: 94 shield HP/second max recharge rate assuming damage is 2/3 primary and 1/3 secondary type assuming worst resists (EM/thermal) you perma-tank up to 322 raw DPS significantly more raw DPS tanked for any other damage types, of course
HIGHS A few HEAVY NOS to refill your cap from NPCs (you get a cap recharge time of OVER 5000 sec, so you HAVE to use NOS to refill, especially since you USE cap with the hardners). And whatever else you want, just not actual weapons :) __
VARIATIONS: replace some or even ALL of those SPRs with PDU IIs for less tankability (not much less for each, but you get the idea, there's 7 of them in total, swapping all 7 of them reduces your tank effectiveness A LOT)... but with the better cap recharge (that the PDUs give you) and the much better powergrid, you can confidently also fit actual weapons instead of those NOSes and, you know, deal some extra damage while you're at it. __ Always question everything. Including yourself. |

Hey Aaronp, been meaning to talk to ya about a few things, can you send me a message in game m8?
As for your ship, Domi's can roll through all but the toughest level 4's with ease from what I've seen!
Personally, I run a Mega and I love it, but then I'm a blaster pilot with drones taking out webbers etc...
Other option, if you're tired of the Domi is to check out the new Hyperion when it comes out. For all intents and purposes, the ugliest ship in Eve, but looks aren't everythin! Wait and see what the stats will be like I guess!
They made *ME* a General? What were all the 5 year old sissy girls busy?
o_0 ... How'd he know!?!

I would definatly go with a raven. If anything, you can resort to using a cap injector setup.
But a tip for level 4s...just be sure to find out what damage they do, get that above 85%, get the best DCU you can possibly afford.

Shield-tanked Raven for PvE ... and DCU... they just don't mix. The BEST DCU gives LESS of an advantage compared to a single extra PDU II... and PDUs "stack", meaning the more you have the "better" each gets (tired, trouble expressing in words, you get the idea anyway). __ Always question everything. Including yourself. |

I run this setup: Hi: 6 cruise launcerh II 2 tractor beams
Med: Large SB II, 2 amps, 3 hardners for specific rats
Low: 2 PDU I 3 BCU I
With this setup I got a RoF of 8,48 seconds and a shield of 8112. With only PDU I I got 9124 shield and RoF 10,25. So for a drop of 11% in shield (cap, and recharge offcourse) I can fire 17% faster. This means I drop the DPS against me much faster than if I only tank them. In long battles dropping opponents fast means faster missions.
With my setup and my skills (24 mil sp) I can easily tank the 7 BS spawn in pirate invasion, both sansha and angel right now. The drone controlers in drone harrashment is also pretty good doable. . Seriously Have I Not Said How I Can Assist Some One You Are Killing Online? |

just use a domi - ok it has trouble running at full tank for long but the number of time you need that is very rare and all missions can be done in one. I use
highs 6 250TII (normally AM but TII Ammo if a tough mission)
mids 1 electrochem booster with 800s 1 100MN ABII 3 cap re II
low 2 LARII - sometimes use a centus but overkill for LVL4 really 4 rat specific TII hardeners 1 TS cap power relay (best 80mill you will spend)
5 light TII 5 med TII another 5 med TII 5 heavy TII 5 sentries (garde normally)
