Just starting on some level 3 missions (for Amarr Navy) and was wondering if anyone had used a retribution for doing these? And if so could they advise on a good setup. Cheers SARDU

2x Medium Pulse Laser II 2x Dual Light Pulse Laser II 1x E5 Prototype Energy Drain
1x 1mn Afterburner II
1x Small Armor Repairer II 1x Armor Thermic Hardener 1x EANM 1x Capacitor Power Relay 1x (Whatever. I've got a tracking enhancer to better use conflag, but it's too short for a heat sink ) ---------- My sig is boring. |

4x Medium Pulse II + conflag or scortch
1x 1MN AB II
1x Small Armor Rep II, 1x Armor Thermic Hardener II, 2x Cap Power Relay, 1x Heatsink II or Energised adaprtec nano membrane II [depends on your skills / rats ]
This will do all level 3 and some level 4 Kill - be warned some level 3's are harder than others.

4 Medium Modulated Pulse
1MN AB t2/named
SARII Energised Thermal 2x heatsink Nanofibre
If you have the grid then fit a nos. I use the same setup for all level 3s. If you're less lazy you'll swap the thermal hardener for something mission specific. You will need to keep your speed up at all times. If you're having problems speed tanking then replace a heatsink with another hardener. The nanofibre usually helps you more than more resists. The modulated pulse, or anode if you can't get modulated, help cap use a lot.

Thanks for the replies guys. Seems the way to go is pulses then. Is AF level 4 good enough? don't really want to sink 20+ days into training up level 5. Once again thanks for your help.

I do it with level 3, so level 4 would be icing on the cake :)
Just make sure and wipe out webber frigates ASAP, without some transversal you can get fried by the big ship guns fast. ---------- My sig is boring. |

Medium Beam Lasers would be great for frigs and still do enough damage to easily handle cruisers. The problem is that they are so hard to fit that they are not worth it. You could use Dual Light Beams for 75% more range than Medium Pulse but they also come with 30% less damage. The extra range is convenient but when you're up against multiple ships and you can tank them long enough to kill them it's quicker to just use more damage and get close.
You've inspired me, though. I think I'll try the dual beams for a while. Damage is similar to medium beams since you can swap MAPC for heat sink and still have room for a nos (and an unsustainable triple rep tank just to show off with). The extra range could be enough to be worth the damage drop. |
