I know the Caldari are the preferred ships but I'm thinking of creating a new toon and going Gallente... should I even bother running agents, in the long run can gallente ships handle lvl 4's in BS or HAK? If so in the beginning what sort of ships and skills should I be pumping to get through levels 1-3 and what kind of tactics should I employ? --------------------------------------------- Don't take life so seriously, no one makes it out alive.. |

As far as I know personally, the Dominix is the only ship that can come close to the Raven for lvl 4 missions. However, for lvl 3 missions, I used a Ferox. 81k sp in missiles (with heavy missiles II), and shield upgrades IV for t2 large extenders were all the skills I trained for the Ferox. Still worked like a dream. Never had a tank problem, not even against Sansha/Blood ships. Yeah, the Ferox really is easy mode for lvl 3's... My lvl 1+2 mission climb is a blurr to me now, so I have nothing to add in regards to that.

Dominix can do most lvl 4's but drone bugs on many missions make them either extremely time consuming or far far harder than with a turret/gunship. ________________

Edited by: Rakeris on 05/10/2006 05:34:42 I do level 4s in a mega without a problem.
For tactics, shoot them and kill them works great for me. :o -------- I gave up on sigs. As all the beatings are starting to hurt and leave nasty bruises. |

Edited by: Fliewatuet on 05/10/2006 05:42:10 i second that. I'm flying a mega (well, sort of, Vindicator it is) for missioning myself and i'm as fast and efficient as any Raven flying m8 i know. :) Just put some SP in the correct railgun skills and use ship bonus (Vindi got a 25% bonus in contrast to the 15% i get with gallente bs 3) and hardwirings (5% rof all turrets, 3% dmg large hybrid turrets) to your advantage. And i don't even use t2 425mm rails. :)
Its not that you can't outperform a Raven in missions... the only reason a raven is so popular is that ppl don't need to think. No optimal, changing damage type, just go in and start shooting is all you need to know.

I use a Megathron and an Astarte. Both ships are more than capable of doing lvl 4 missions.
Angel Ex Guristas Ex Pirate Invasion Worlds Collide Duo of Death Infiltrated Outposts Vengence Silence the Informant Rogue Slave Trader (parts 1 & 2) Blockade
Probably missed a couple out but have done all those missions in a Megathron. It is not the no-brainer that the Raven is, but it is a lot more fun. -----------------------------------------------

A Mega is going to be my aim for missions.
Although I'm Caldari I much prefer Gallente ships, both because to me they look much nicer and I prefer the idea of big ships fighting it out with big guns rather than missiles.
One of the reasons I began to play Eve was the idea of having a big battleship pounding out rounds from huge guns.
I don't really care if it's harder, it certianly looks to be more fun. I'm currently flying a Ferox which I work my gunnery skills and missile fighting is boring.

What about tactics, missles are brainless but drones and turrents I'd excpect to be more challenging... and tips, hints, stradegies etc... --------------------------------------------- Don't take life so seriously, no one makes it out alive.. |

Just did a couple of lvl4 missions in my Mega. Omg, I had to warp out like 10 times before being able to clear a stage. When 5 Ravens\Scorpions open up on you along with 30 support ships I start running out of toilet paper. The only positive I see is that its actually fun to do them unlike lvl3s that are boring as hell. Getting paid 800k for destroying a BS is nice too. I am however an oddity when it comes to skills. I have a mismatch of training gunnery and shields, while I should be focusing on armor tanking. I think I'll be looking for a partner for my missions until my skills improve.
