Hello, I have a very close friend in the UK, we're looking for a MMORGP to play together and I would like to know if it is possible for us to play on the same server.
I have started a trial account and one option was available.
Any information and/or direction to information is appreciated. |

There is only one server for the whole world!!!
So yes, you and your friend will be able to play together.
(FYI There is a China server but that is due to the online gaming laws there)

there will be a second server available to you but that one os only for testing purposes, everyone plays in the same persistent game world.

There is only 1 possable server for you to play on, not including the test server of course :)

But yes as mentioned Tranquility is one server unlike other games there are no shards and every single player (last count i remember was 125,000 active accounts but is probably more) plays on the same server at the same time so yes you will both be playing together and welcome to EVE may she treat you well :)

IĈm incredibly pleased and overwhelmed by the rapid, courteous replies (anyone who has visited the WoW forums will understand perfectly why IĈm overwhelmed  ).
Thank you to all and, once weĈve decided how weĈre going to proceed in terms of starting characters and such, I very much look forward to sharing this world with all of you for a long time to come.
Onward to the newbie guide...

dont be too taken in, ure there are PLENTY of nice ppl on the server, but it takes just a few to ruin it. Scamming is allowed in eve so watch urself ;p

Just to add to the other stuff said in here, you two would probably get an optimal start in EVE with EVE University corporation. For two nublars like you and your friend, they're probably the best place to start out.

beware of this game's extremely steep learning curve... or... learning cliff... whatever.
The Help chat channel ingame is always good :)
The tutourial (although horrendously long), is good to get you started... 
or, you can just fly around and learn by your self... which is not excatly recommended but doable... and actually is quite fun if you dont mind loseing lots of ships and pods and money and time and... well, you get the point :) (did that with my first character in EVE.... back when they didnt have this really nice tutourial...)
O, and also, if you want to do anything that does not involve Leadership skills (namely PvP, Research and Development, Production, PvE...), get a Caldari - Achura character... They are the most broken thing in EVE, EVER ... and its totally allowed (and probably encouraged unless you're into the RP aspect of EVE)! :D
Tip: Dont hold anything you own in game too dearly... they will probably be lost sooner or later, especially since EVE allows ingame scamming.
If you're used to WoW, you're gonna realize that death in EVE can be pretty expensive. A general rule of thumb is to not fly anything you cant afford to lose, unless you really dont care about losing things that much (and you shouldn't :) ).
Hmm... that's pretty much it. If you have questions, ask... there will always be someone who will be willing to help a new player.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this game. The GMs and Mods show favoritism and CCP only cares about the greifers and turns a blind eye to exploiters.
Oh and they ban you for not tolerating their censorship and responding in kind to their disrespectful Mods.
In all this game is going to hell quickly.

Seriously, your opinion is by far the minority. You seem to have broken some forum rules (or whatever), gotten punished for it, and now petulantly whine about it. Please leave!
Alastu, EVE is a sandbox, and CCP doesn't hold your hand. Thus there is a few griefers/exploiters in the game. It doesn't affect you unless you fall for their tricks. Read the forums and you'll be fine as most things to avoid are explained here.
