First episode is on right now in the US.
It is awsome, and it seems to reflect the occupation of Iraq a bit.
Just wanted to see what everyone else lucky enough to see it already thinks.

This was a great intro for this season, full of espionage, intrigue and violence. And the 200+ colonists who were killed at the end was Iraq deja-vu, kinda tugged at the heart strings a but :( I think this is one of the 1st where they issued a parental warning for violent content and it was deserved.

Yeah, strange that Sadam is on trial for war crimes for killing an alleged 100+k people in his 20 year reign...how many have the US killed in that country in 3 years? I think it was almost 60k at last count...

Yeah I kinda wanted to post my comments about the episode, without any spoilers. But as always some tard has to post about politics. Maybe if we're luck the mods will just delete it and we can get back on topic. (without spoilers)

Actually no, dumbass, that has nothing to do with Iraq whatsoever. It most likely comes from World War II, when 76 prisoners of war escaped the Stalag Luft III POW camp. 73 were recaptured, and of those, 50 were handpicked to be executed...supposedly machine-gunned en masse after being told to get out of a truck to stretch their legs, which you SHOULD have seen portrayed in The Great Escape...you clearly missed this movie and need to go watch it. Anyway, as for my comments on the actual episode...
This episode gives me a lot of hope. As I said in the thread about Season 2.5, I was worried...but this looks like it's gonna be good.
I mean on one hand, I'm worried...it seems like the humans have now completely branded Baltar as a traitor, so that could REALLY limit his further role in the series...I mean how much fun is it gonna be to watch him sit there in Colonial One rubberstamping Cylon orders and sleeping for the rest of the series? He used to be the coolest guy in the fleet, and now the Cylons have him muzzled and leashed.
On the other hand, it's the first episode and the Galactica is already about to come back, so it's pretty clear we're not gonna have to sit through episode after episode with the ship just floating out in the middle of nowhere as an abstract concept...I'm hoping it's gonna be back in the very next episode, actually.
This was also kind of a scary episode...I sorta got this bad vibe near the end, and I was sitting there silently screaming Do NOT kill Cally, you will NOT kill Cally, I'm gonna ******* hate your guts forever if you kill Cally you bastards, don't even THINK about it!!! I was relieved to see her running away...but then you DON'T actually see anybody getting shot, you just hear the shots, and then a few minutes later it showed scenes from the next episode, which included Roslin even though she'd been there supposedly getting shot, so...what the hell? Did ANY of those 200 just get killed? Or did Roslin just have Matrix-style bullet-dodging powers? I probably shouldn't have watched those preview scenes, I should know better --------------------- Originally by: Herko Kerghans Nik = win. Period.

A lot of emtion there, and a lot of things happening.
It was very interesting to discover that not all cyclones are made equal. I wonder who made them all.
The end of the 2nd part reminded me of the great escape, where in the end, they did the very same thing.

Spoiler warning
I think Rosilin survived because Zarek might of used his body to protect her. Right when the Centurians showed you see Zarek pull Roslin back to the rear of the group.
I think the whole episode was a combination of the current war combined with World War II prison camps. BSG is known for making political statements. Obviously this doesn't mean I think US soldiers have gunned down civilians.

I think they did kill Roslyn. The only images of her from the next episode appear to be in Baltar's head. I hope your right because I really respected her character. I did however lose much respect for Adama for even allowing Balter to become president. He knew it would be a disaster but yet still let it happen. He was not looking out for what was best for humanity. I hope in a future episode he admits his failings and comes to terms with everything he allowed to happen.

I wouldn't be too sure about it. I mean, I doubt that she died, and I think that the pushing to the back of the group might have been signigicant, but there's no way just having her stand near the back would have saved her.
I thought the best scene in the whole show was when the first suicide bomber died. It was just so perfectly done, and the whole scene was just so beautiful. I really just sat there stunned for a minute or two after that.
I also loved the bit where Starbuck killed the cylon, walked back to the table and kept on eating her steak, then dabbed at her mouth with her hand dripping in blood. Signature graphic removed - please email us to find out why (include a link to the graphic in question) - Jacques([email protected])

man thar is so much in thes 2 epasods. the end of the 2 gave me the same what the frack momnet as when boomer shot adoma. altho I dont think what we herd was rilly what happend.
the suacide boming was a good tuch if not a bit over the top. but as BSG has alway tuch on the politics and resent events of the day.(new and old)
and am I the only one that whants to see tighs wife dead?
as for adomas frack up in leting baltar in office. thay start to tuch on that when sharon and adoma talked I am sure thay will get into this more.
I see a cylon cival war geting ready to happen as more human cylons seem to be siding with the humans. ---

Spoiler Alert An outstanding start to series 3, much of it acomplete departure from the first 2 series, yet sticking with the threads of hope and despair mixed with love and envy. For the collaborators will be a reckoning at some stage, but i wonder if they will eventually string up the right/wrong people. As one can emphayse with many of them at certain levels, yet still see them happily hang from a tree.
As for the little girl, I tend to agree that she may have been pushed by cylon rather than fell when Kara Thrace left the room. That thread is developing well, again its a case of remove all the hope someone can hold, and then give them a light or lifeline, something to cling to in order to mould them to your own will.
Great after production also, with some many scenes happily utilisng many versions of the same cylon, its great production has the ability to make the scenes believable.
Loving BSG so much.

I hope those images arent from one of baltars dreams. Im thinking they arent because sol is standing there with his beard trimmed which for some reason makes me think they actually managed to kill all the cylons there and got their collective acts together (adamas son isnt fat anymore too). Also, if they really did die it would be at the very end of an episode, its a bit anti climatic to have it at the beginning isnt it? ______________

My take on it is that the Centurions coming up over the ridge are being controlled by Mrs. Agathon.
Look, they didn't pack up the prisoners into trucks and drive them into the middle of nowhere for nothing. Well, they drove them into the middle of nowhere to dispose of them, but one would think Cavil would've been much happier shooting 'em up right in the streets of New Caprica.
Plus the earlier comments about Centurions and their inability to recognize individuals of the humanoid model lines.. Meh.
Sharon: Oh noes, Centurions! Everybody run away!
Centurion: PEW PEW PEW!
Sharon: Wait, I'm a Cylon. STOP SHOOTING AT ME!
Centurion: K.

I was very impressed by the last two episodes. I have always found BSG to be a little bit too americanized and PC, but these last two episodes made me think a lot highter thoughts about the scriptwriters and directors!
I find it interesting how the cylons are beginning to develop their own internal disagreements and, as with the cylon keeping Starbuck captive, really wierd other problems. (But if I was her I would probably torture him instead of just killing him )
Anyhow, for the first time I am really looking forward to the following episodes! --- My other ship is a Reaper

I think it was 5 times. I think I remember him saying "five times now".
As for torturing him, she knows from a previous encounter (the reason he likes her so much in the first place) that he doesn't respond to torture whatsoever.
Good beginning to what should be a very good season. I don't think that the BSG writers are really trying to mesh politics into the show, I think they are trying to express what the retaliatory responses would be between captive and captor, and also the schisms that develop within both camps. To suicide bomb or not to suicide bomb; to carry out summary executions or to use other forms of coercion. We are getting some serious foreshadowing of a possible internal fight between groups in both camps.

Spoilers, yo. You have been warned!
First of all, the "fat and soft" Apollo made me laugh out loud.
Now, Baltar really is getting his just desserts. After all, the only reason the Cylons found New Caprica was because of the nuke he gave to the 8 from the Pegasus. I almost cheered when they offered the execute him near the beginning of the episode. Yeah! Shoot the traitor/idiot. As for the lines with the Chief and Cally, she is one of my favorite characters now and I am glad that Jammer let her go (traitorous pig). Tigh is shockign in his single minded persuit of hurting the Cyclons and is quite a change from the nearly inneffectual drunk we say in the first 2 seasons. Talk about a man over the edge. Wow.
Starbuck's captivity had me wondering if the Cylon imprisoning her pushed the little girl down the stairs too....the Cylons for the most part have shown thier willingness to kill anyone and anything to forward whatever they think their "cause" is.
As for the way the episode ended, we don't actually SEE the condemned being shot. And where are Boomer's Marines? What Boomer actually met Anders...after all, the Cylons had the meeting location thanks to Ellen Tigh. They could have easily sent another Boomer. Perhaps Adama's Boomer and the Marines got lost and stumbled upon the death squad before they could open fire on Zarick, Rosalyn and the other condemned.
Can't wait for Friday.
This is gonna be good.
P.S. I want Dean Stockwell to say "That's a real kick in the pants, isn't it?"

Why? Fans belive its because of the lack of a Sg1 and Atlantis lead in?
