Anyone got any idea for outfitting an osprey.
for minning missions i usually use 3 miners I ( yes i know how pathetic. not enought cash for miner II's or anything else) and a missle launcher.
For combat, i like hybrid weapons alot. but can't find the right combo for defense to go with it.
Help

Edited by: Rath Amon on 28/10/2003 08:07:38 Not knowing what your skills are I can only tell you what I would put on the ship for NPC hunting:
3x250 railgun with 20k range ammo 1xM-12 launcher with defenders
1xMicrowarpdrive 1xMedium shield booster 2xTracking computer
1xPower capacitor relay 1xPower diagnostic system 1xHybrid damage mod
4xHammerhead drones (medium scouts)
The microwarpdrive is your key module. In most cases you need to keep away from pirates to survive, especially if you tackle the cruisers. 20k is probably the best range if you can make it work with your skills and ammo. The tracking computers will give you added range and your railguns will have a better chance of delivering solid hits. If you get into a bind launch the drones and run.

I like the Osprey for missions and NPC hunting. Just don't try and do PvP in it.
For both the above I used to fit one 250 rail plus a projectile weapon (cap), one missile launcher and a Med smartbomb (for missile defence). Med shield extender plus an appropriate "ward" (usually EM - for gurista rats), two abs, two overdrives and either a target or turret enhancer (preferably the latter as increases rate of fire and damage, not just locking speed and distance). Keep cargo expanders in cargo, for those larger hauling missions.
Keep two kinds of drone, such as hammerhead and infiltrator in drone bay. They do different kinds of damage and if you are attacked by PvP'er with a "ward" one of them will get through. I once fought off a Blackbird with my drones. Lucky.
Smartbomb is for missile defence against NPC cruisers (or you could put defenders in the missile launcher). Missiles are for finishing off targets. Sometimes resistance, as the shield gets low, increases. With only two turrets it can be difficult to deal enough damage for the kill. The missiles give you that edge. Also useful with convoys.
The abs and overdrives give you enough speed to avoid going crazy and help you stay at your chosen range for NPC farming. No good for running a heavily armed gate camp tho' as I learned to my cost at Nalvula.
I am sure there are many other set ups, but the above stood me in good stead for a couple of months as a solo player.
Good luck in game.
