I just wanted to ask about this sytem of people that kill anyone who goes into low sec space and them using NPC's to erase the rating hit. shouldnt they get much less rating when being a negative rating?? something on a sliding scale perhaps??
Its a catch 22. I kill people so I kill off NPC's to erase the fact. rinse repeat. kind of an exploit if you will around the negative rating system.
To me this is a reward for basically guarding low sec space. free ability to kill anyone and really no long term penalty.
I see low sec pirates complain we dont have no one out here any more!! well no ones going to come when you can pillage and murder with basically very limited penalites.
I really think this needs to be looked into and changed in away where someone who makes a habit of killing alot other players for basically no reason at all faces some very stern penalties.
Other wise they will sit out there guarding their precious rating + spawns and gate camp. all the while complaining theres not many people where they are.
gee i wonder why??

Jenial, It does take an awful lot of effort to reduce negative standings.. :)
You pod one empire pirate, and its taking me weeks of half arsed rat hunting to fix -1.7 standing..

Not that easy, except if you keep non-stop ratting for a week or two... and that can get kinda repetitive. I'm still at -3 after 3 months

took me a month of solid 0.0 npcing and a billion ISK in bounties (roughly 1,000 npc battleship kills) to get from -10 to -1.9
i dont want to look at another npc again.
it would take what, 10 podkills to get back to -10? thats nothing.
what i would like to see however is sec status slowly recovering over time, if anything - say, 0.1 ss per day, but not on days where its lost? that way it'd take 3 solid months of zero piracy to get back to 0.0. only then would i be happy with nerfing ss gains from npcs

My dear, you can turn back from piracy. Try turning back from a bad standing with an empire faction. The only way is voluntary failing the storyline mission, trading 2 ponts on your good standing Empire faction for 1 point of standin in your bad empire faction. An there is no mode to get back in the good graces of a corporation (for example the Caldary Navy) after you have gone beyond a definite negative level (if I remember well -1.5 after diplomacy). So you have an easy way.

This was actually a feature during the first few months or so of EVE, your sec status would repair 0.1 a day. It was also alot easier to gain sec status. They removed it of course, for various reasons I assume.
The Establishment is at your service...
