question.
1: how much would the server performance increase if CCP did a delete all BM? 2: would u rather have no bm or a limited amount and less lag or as it is now?
Idea.
what about some kind of dynamic bm system. so like u can create bm in sys u can use but they will delete itself when u leave a system.
if any have ideas come forward ;)
me myslef would 100% rather have no bm longer travel time and more risky gameplay for less lag.

Well, Newbies prefer BM, old timers prefer no-lag. :)

if u wana get rid of some lag one of the first things that comes first to my mind is all those containers in the belts that most of them are there for just taking space i think that just by taking that out would have less lag ingame
would be nice if there was like a anchor time limit for the cans

Probably very little...I think a large chunk of the lag is from coding.

i agree, i think that was proven by the way that after the server upgrade it was flying, then they introduced a patch......

Edited by: Oleg K77 on 08/10/2006 14:48:47 Plain speculation, imho. As far as i remember, devs said somewhere BM dont cause lag, copying BMs does.

How about we have a cap for the amount of bkmks a character can store in there p@p, would that solve it?
Have like 200 bkmks only allowed.

could be an idea-
no matter if copying create lags and bm itself dont or the other wway it would help alot i am sure of.
but maybe a dev or so can tell how much bm effect servers

would be nice if they could find a safe way to store BMs locally. then the only traffic would be when someone trades a BM from one player to another player. but for example to move them to an alt they could just copy and paste locally. i honestly dont think there would be that much hacking of the BMs that it would matter for them to be local. its not like a BM can give me unlimited missles if hacked anyway.

the problem with the new 5 bm¦s at a time copy thing. IS all the old players got bm for most systems wich is a huge advantage. For a new player to get these bm¦s is way more time consuming than before..
I think they should either say we got bm¦s or no bm¦s and make it even for both the new and the old players!

I love an live by my bookmarks. The non-bookmark people are obviously not miners and traders, just a hint of alternate motives there?
If it is the trading of bookmarks that causes lag, make everyone make their own. They are not hard.
I agree with the secure can statement. Make people take them down every 3 months or so or lose them. They really clutter space out there.

BM copying is still very easy.
and yes it should be either or not, and i prefer not ;)

No
People would figure how to export local bookmarks. That would only encourage people to create gigantic bookmark databases which would then be freely shared on the internet.

well no lag, as tbh its got to a point where it is just not possible to play the game to anywhere nears it potential. personally i have been playing this game almost every day for almost 3 years and the lag is as worse now as its ever been. fleet combat just is not possible, missions are a joke and not being able to jump even when their is no one in local is just laughable. I for one are fed up with the issue. are bms responcible for this, no i dont think so maybe when jumping in initially with a big group but not on the whole. 2 years ago it was possible to have 100+ man fleet v 100+ man fleet all with 15 drones each and very very limited lag it is now not possible to even get 200 ppl in a system to have a fight . it is my opinion that if the lag issues are not fixed eve will loss alot of its more experienced player base.
ioh and dont even get me started on the state of the petiotion system, loss ship to lag, petiton wait 6 weeks WTF, then either get perition closed for time out or a no lag on our records mssge lmao it is that bad . http://www.maja-corp.net/sigs/nub1.jpg

i remember the old days yes. but think about it back then there was no near as many bm made ;)
since then we also had several server upgrades..
if something else is creating the amout of lag we have atm i sure would like to know what it is,

why?
because i die to people more often than lag
and bms are freqently the only thing keeping my fragile little ships alive

These skills, is that looking at the map?, planning your route?, knowing when to fight or run to the gate? and warping to a planet near the gate, and scanning for people? stuff like that? any more tips you can give me?
@OP I prefer no BM's i think if BM's were removed, then alot of people would move back into cruisers/frigs, in order for them to escape getting ganked and generally be faster.
I think, could be wrong tho
