Verolinna	Posted - 2006.10.08 15:46:00 - [1] there are very few things i rant about in forums or whatever but this really bugs me. i'm sure most of you have heard about the gold magnate and that luxery yacht i was told they were given away to certain people because they won contests or went to eve fairs or whatever i'm 14 years old and i do not have the money nor the time to travel far and wide in the pursuit of my hobby so it annoys me that people get better crap then i do when i don't even have the chance to work for it these one of a kind ships should be awarded to players because they've worked hard in GAME just like the titan i really congratulate the person who built the first titan because they worked hard for it, but whoever owned that golden magnate i'm sorry you no longer own it anymore but now that its blown up it can remain a legend and not something you can rub into other peoples faces still thats my fav anything else i post i'll try and keep positive and constructive instead of *****y :)

The yacht given away was given to a couple who got married at a fanfest, I think. Oh to be young again. Okay, so I'd be thrown out of school and/or university for achieving absolutely nothing, but I'd have billions of ISK. Yes, some people can't get some of the unique ships. But for different reasons people can't spent hours mining, or become the CEO of a huge alliance, or become PvP masters. EvE is such a broad-ranging game that you have to accept the fact that unless you're a woman (or man) or leisure you'll never be able to do more than scratch the surface.

At least in my opinion - it rewards hard work yes, but conversely expect a large portion of the population to try and work for it. Then, is it still rare when every empire dweller has one? Moreover, keep in mind the person who flies the Titan (CYVOK) did not do it all alone; it took the skills and time of the entire alliance to create it, so its not really a good example of what you would be talking about. Whats the point of ships if you leave them collecting dust in a hanger? Does anyone look at someone who's got a guardian-vexor sitting around a hanger and think "What a badass"? Because I know when I look at someone like tyrrax, using the ships in combat, I think "The guy has cajones".

First, everyone does have a chance to get one. Second, if they became widely available, they would hardly be qualified as "unique", now would they? Of course, any ship for which there is more than one is already not unique. In that regard, I think that Cyvok's Titan is the only truely unique ship in the game. The Gold Magnate being zero-of-a-kind is no longer unique (well, it gained a new uniqueness in being destroyed, I suppose). Everything else there are at least 2 of.
