CCP, can you give the hamsters some red bull or something? We are lagging to death in the south, courtesy bob and ASCN (I am pretty sure :))
We want to fight, and so do they... Takes 5-10 seconds at times to activate a weapon... Takes like 30 seconds at times to even start to jump...
We need more POWAH down here! :)

Edited by: Dahin on 08/10/2006 17:35:06 You think south is laggy? Try TDE, every time 10 people fire together the node goes down.
Not funny when there are 100 fighters out in space.
hey, what's gazmus doing on your buddylist? this must be one of the TDE crashes.

It is a bit of a nightmare down there, the cluster is in a pretty poor state at the moment. In fact the server performance and stability is as bad as I can remember it.
I sincerely hope they get it fixed.

I guess that screenshot depends on whether or not the names logging off were enemies in your buddy list :)
It is really quite bad down in paragon soul, period basis, stain and esoteria right now.
I have postponed all activity, personally. I ran into an ASCN/AXE and BOB fleet the other day in period basis. Needless to say, I ended up dead along with others that might have lived. <grin>

Well, if CCP actually started to look at how to solve the lag more creatively, it might help. For example, the servers have to create, manage and track every single object in space AND they have to manage/track how they interact. Now how many different npcs are floating about in missions and belts? Millions!
Time to speperate the mission runners from the rest of eve in my opinion. Mission running isn't an mmorpg. Its man vs eve. Creating a server dedicated to these folk would be a great start. And just think mission runners, no pirates to harass you!
And for the love of all thats holy, stop introducing more content until the game issues are fixed. CCP is dangerously close to losing alot of subscribers who are sick and tired of lag and not being able to play the way they want.

.. and I have to say - kudos to BOB and ASCN. One thing this war is doing is making a mockery out of every "Server is getting better" post CCP has ever made. Damn all expansions and content if you can't keep your servers up.
And the line "no one working on content is taking away from the server stability team" only proves that CCP has hired into the wrong department. The resources and salaries put towards the content and expansion teams has been misappropriated.
BOB, ASCN - keep going. Maybe someone over at CCP will recognize that there has to be a fundamental shift in their priority as their servers go up and down like yo-yos for know other reason then people trying to play their game.
This game is unplayable as advertised.

There's been a fair amount of GM interest over the weekend but I doubt they were there to collect data on how the servers were performing or even to experience it first hand, they were there to make sure there was no monkey business.
Hopefully the dev's are collecting data though and I'm sure they know we're always happy to have Oveur and company in local when we're throwing about lots of ordanance. The organised stress tests are one thing but the actual live performance of TQ when players are doing there thing must provide good and useful data.
I'm sure CCP are working hard on it, I just fear that for all their efforts we are pushing the boundaries of what's possible to the very limit with Eve at the moment.

I can't even log into TCAG.
I wonder if we need to start giving CCP 48 hours of notice before we change the primary location of the blobs so that they have time to reinforce the nodes. ----------

Sinq just went from tolerable to nonresponsive, just as I was getting jumped. Took over four minutes to dock, too. Guess my play is over for the weekend, at least until the server crashes and comes back up all fresh and new. |

Seriously thats what chat is like in empire in City of god...turning a module on is like getting a cup of coffee going to the john, finding out you left your nasal hair in the sink , unblocking the sink then the toilet then finding out your module has activated but the target has left system as of XXX seconds ago.....all very nice getting those numerous petitions done and stuff but CCP you got a CROWD here screaming about lag now control it.......
Oh and on another note...Bookmarks where NEVER the cause of the server lag, just another lame excuse by some techi for a unresolved issue.

I have no doubt that CCP is scrambling to fix it. I fully believe that people are working around the clock, pouring their heart into the game, and personally investing themselves in it. To those people I only have words of thanks.
I'm talking about the issue behind the issue - what has caused this potentially great game to earn the reputation of being in the state it is in. By looking at statements like "no one in content has anything to do with stability" we get a glimpse of what is wrong -- the priorities are set incorrectly at a higher level.
The fact is that (and anyone taking a step back will see this) CCP is riding high with no competition. They have a great product, and really sub-standard packaging. This is a common occurence when any grass-roots product begins to make it big - people are too invested in "their baby" to see the wider picture. It's not their fault; its human nature. The second that someone releases a comparable game with a better package EVE will end up like EQ (Another example of a great product with crappy packaging).
Eve doesn't work as advertised. I say that because I have to spend more time doing things to "correct" for issues with the game (recovering from node crashes, filing bug reports, filing petitions, recovring from error-related losses) then I do playing the game.
And frankly the constant calls of "Murphy" are beyond thin. At some point you have to stop blaming Murphy and start taking some ownership. Yes, it might be near-impossible in the current scenario to fully test things before they go live - but then its time to start analyzing and changing your testing process to make those things better at a fundamental level.
Bah - I don't know why I'm bothering to type all this - but then again with utter failure of Eve what are you going to do but read the forums until CCP gets some better direction or someone packages the product better.
Cheers.
