Edited by: ImperialAnubite on 08/10/2006 18:34:54 Just today, after playing EVE for 5 days, I am starting to get lots of disconnections. I can hardly do anything without being disconnected. It shouldn't be my internet connection, because I can play another other MMO game just fine. And it shouldn't be my computer, because it is top of the line. Is there any way for me to fix or lessen the many disconnections? Thanks in advance.
Oh, I forgot to mention. I can't check the support site, because it doesn't load. |

When did this start happening?
You can try doing a traceroute to 87.237.38.200?
(Start -> Run -> Type "cmd" -> type "tracert 87.237.38.200" in the black box) --

Having the same sort of problem. Started with the latest client. It seems if I am not inputing information it disconnects. Never lose connection while fighting a rat but keep disconnecting when going to collect the cans. The client disconnects and can not reconnect unless I close the client and reopen it. Not an internet connection issue.

As I tend to write elsewhere in reply to these subjects, I have no problems with CCP... so I'm still thinking 9 times out of 10 it's either 1) Your computer or 2) Your ISP. My DCs lately have been because we're having power fluctuations, and my router doesn't like it much when the power goes out... I know other people that have issues with their ISP. Others that it's because they have bad cooling or other programs running in the background that eventually cause a memory dump.
Imperial, where are you at? Have you contacted your ISP? What, exactly, do you have in your computer? How do you connect to the internet? What's your operating system? Etc.

Most deffinatly an issue on your end then, check your router, sounds like it just doesn't feel like sending information to TQ. ---

Check your connection (preform several tracerts), and see if it's a problem with your ISP. ---

Seems funny that so many people are suddenly having trouble with their ISP's huh? I hadn't done a single thing from when I logged off last night to when I tried to log on today. After waiting 5 minutes while it chugged through the login process, I finally got into the station. I accepted a mission and undocked, but right clicking did nothing at that point. After about 15-20 seconds, it disconnected me. I then tried to reconnect and it timed out. I checked my connection and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I have a very good PC and I'm using a very fast connection. Then I came to the tech support boards and noticed others having problems as well. This is not a problem on my end.

'Checked' your connection how?
Run several tracerts to out of Europe and European websites, also contacts your ISP to see if they have any routing issues. ---

I've been getting the same for the past week now. I run Eve in 2 diffrent verions of Windows and get disconnect whenever I don't do anything for over 5 minutes.
This is very annoying when i'm trying to mine.
XP/XP64bit Athlon 3700 64bit 2Gig memory Raptor Drive 10mb connection (tracert 16ms)
This has only happend within the last 2 patches.

Same here. Ping to google.com shows no packet loss at all. Game lags (doesn't respond to my requests) and then disconnects.

Suggest you download pingplotter.
http://www.pingplotter.com/download.html
set it to ping to 87.237.38.200 with one second interval.
Run up a 2nd ping plotter and trace to google or something.
When you get a disconnect, stop both and compare the traces. If both show poor response or lost pings, it could be your local connection. If only the Eve one shows packet loss, then we know Eve has a connection problem. If both are ok, then the disconnect may be due to issues internal to Eve.

while the advice offered in this thread might seem to be sound on the surface, closer inspection using logserver reveals the server / client session control is breaking.
Nothing to do with ISP's - everything to do with EVE.

Max Torps, you are certain of that? Does CCP acknowledge this?
I'm on my last day of the trial today. The game ran like a dream for the first five or six days, but I've had rampant connection losses ever since, even though I hadn't changed any settings on my end.
I've taken progressively more drastic measures to fix any problem on my end. I've basically ruled out the ISP, hardware conflicts, firewalls and virus protection software, drivers, firmware, and other things. I finally reformatted yesterday, and I am still plagued.
I really, really want to play this game, but I'm having trouble justifying spending fifteen dollars just to skill up.
Should I make an inquiry to EvE support, sit back and wait a month or two for things to perhaps be resolved, or just give up? |

I think what these people mean is this BS with "Status:Unknown" when it's very well known that CCP has spilled coffee on the servers, AGAIN.

Shay, I say stay with it. But honestly, we all as a community of over 25,000 active users need to be on CCP's ass. This is just ridiculous with how the servers have been. One day they are boasting population with stability, and the next day it's right back to square one. But do they report that? Hell no.

CDT's and server reboots with 10k on-line... wow, congrats CCP! You have come a long way since dragon code. You guys should have called it crab code. Think the crab is the only animal, mythical or not, that moves backwards.

Hi,
I had similar problems with EVE disconnecting, but solved my problem over the weekend. It turns out it was an issue with my Router (doubling as a firewall etc). I went to the vendor website and upgraded my device with a firmware patch - since then everything has been perfect :)
Note, that if you upgrade your firmware it will wipe all the existing settings and reset the admin password on your router, so write them down beforehand.
IMHO its pretty simple, but make sure you know what you are doing before you patch!

I have also had this issue. I have so far had no disconnects when I have 4 or so chat channels(pick busy ones) open minimised and blinking. I'm yet to try with blink off.
