Hey all, one of my many and varied hobbies is tumbling rocks, admittedly I havnt' been doing it for long but I was just wondering if anyone else here did it? Do you have any hints as to making the tumbler a little quieter? I've had to move it to my bedroom unfortunately and as you know this poses a problem, how do I sleep with this terrible noise? Any help much appreciated, Thanks.

hehe thats a very uncommon hobby there, but if you enjoy it... if i'm hunting for shiny rocks I usually just go have a hunt around the river near us.
Anyhow back on topic the only real way of quieting the process I could think of would be to build an igloo of polystyrene around the tumbler, try to get as much sound insulating material between you and the source of noise as you can.

hmm.. yeah I will do that but the problem is I have none on hand just now and if I stop it now it's going to set like cement I guess i'll just have to take it for a few nights. Thanks for the help though ^^

I studied Geology, and rock tumbling is 4TW. It's just cool, one of those things that has no reason for being cool, it just is.
