ILikeTastyPie PMC Core	Posted - 2006.10.08 21:57:00 - [1] Greetings all, This is a post on behalf of Jack, a friend of mine both in-game and out-of-game. Jack recently sold his character SLOJack on e-bay - against the rules, I know. The buyer sent the money via paypal and the character was transferred in good faith. The buyer then peitioned paypal claiming that the payment was unauthorised and that a security breach had occurred. This is either because the paypal account was hacked in some way or because the buyer was trying to get out of paying for his purchase. Unfortunately for Jack, paypal decided to side with the buyer and refunded him/her the money. I know some might focus on the "well, he broke the rules so he deserves everything he gets" side of the argument, and to an extent I can understand that. All I am trying to say here is beware of the SLOJack character as there is clearly an untrustworthy person behind him, and if you know the owner of this character then you know a pitiful thief and should be ashamed of him. pie

Xtreem Gallente Anti Pirate Confederate	Posted - 2006.10.08 22:01:00 - [4] thanks for the warning and yes the otherside of the story, the reason ebay selling is not allowed is becuase CCP has no control over this, and the seller cant prove that the account was his in the first place (what with privacy laws) thats the main reason this is not allowed, as the scams cant be dealt with by CCP. On eve ebay would be very risky.

I wasn't sure if this kind of stuff would get the thread locked or not - I've seen other posts exposing corp thieves and the like so I thought this might be acceptable as well. I guess in a little time a mod will make that clear. pie

A character transfert is ok only if done with the approvation of CCP, and only if no real life money is involved. Even if the account/password have been changed, he can petition with CCP to get it back. Probably he will get a temporary ban for transferring the character whitout autorization, but he can get it back.

If it did, ask buyer to provide information on the seller, if it was private character for ISK transfer. Confirm with seller, make sure account name matches, if not ban the slopoke who bought the character illigaly.

Also you probaly ruined your friends chances by posting here, what you should of done is got your friend to do is to report the account as hacked and i dont know how you prove.. send email from original email addy? last 4 digits of c/c? im not sure but he could of just got his account back.

Reporting the account as hacked (beating a scammer with another scam? hmm...) wouldn't have worked as the char was transferred to the buyer's account. The original account remains intact, just without the character in question. The issue has also been petitioned to CCP but I wanted to make sure nobody trusted the SLOJack character in the meantime. pie

I wanted for someone else to have fun with my char becouse he provided me so much fun over the years. I wouldnt even have tryed selling if i wasnt strapped for money. Ohh well ;)
