With a pilgrim recon cruiser you need to disable the tank of your opponent in order to enable your drones to kill the target. I have a 'gank' setup for a pilgrim (lvl4 recon skill). Question is if the tank will hold until the neuts have drained the target. An alternative would be to rely more on ew to reduce damage in and swap two energy mods for multispectrals. That would mean less cycles on the energy drain but without armor repair a lot of energy would be saved.
Any suggestions? swap the cap extender for a 800 mm plate perhaps?
pilgrim
total energy neutralised in alpha strike 972 cap after that 972 cap/12 s= 81 cap/s
cap test for setup showed: - capacitor with all running exept repair unit : 5 min = 25 cycles or 24300 cap drained - capacitor with all running : 1 min = 5 cycles or 4860 cap drained - capacitor with 2x neut running : 2.5 min = 12.5 cycles or 8100 cap drained
setup:
- 3x med unstable power fluctuator I (324 energy neutralized with recon lvl 4 and 112.5 energy need with energy emission lvl 5) - 1x cov ops cloak
med (tank + warp inhibitor)
- 2x j5 proto warp inhibitor - 2x T2 cap rechargers - 1x large peroxide cap power cell ( +480 cap)
total tank 1850 cap recharged in 132 s = 14 cap/s
low (tank)
288 HP/8.73 s = 33 HP/s energy need 160/8.73 =19 cap/s resistances : 75 em, explosive, 74 kin 77 therm
fitting : (1x) medium accommodation vestment reconstructor I (1x) radioisotope thermic harderner (active) (1x) magnetic membrame, 2x energized adaptive nano membrame II (passive)

Why not fit as many nosferatu as you can, and then use the stolen energy to power dual armor reps? once thier cap fails your drones "and thier damage bonus" should take them pretty easily.

Im testing a setup along the same lines as you:
3x nos and cloak (ofc) 2x cap recharges, cap injector, web and scram 2x medium rep IIs, kin and therm energised membraines and a EANM II.
the cap recharges and injector are for when the targets cap is dry, and to allow for a little return nossing/nueting.
Dual rep setups are risky for sure, and i think to go with nuet and dual rep might be a bit suisidal. Ive tryed this setup because jamming didnt give me enough of an edge to tank when they didnt work, or when they were out of cap.

as a solo setup to kill ratters / complex *****s , that setup you posted is pretty good.
For more general purpose i'd go two neut one nos, and injector though. you might need to survive longer after all.

There are only 2 viable "schools" of pilgrim setups that give a big result.
The cov ops + Nos/Neuts + Ew + Tank school of thought. The cov ops + Stabbed up, Shield Tanked 100km+ sniper.
No other type of setup really works. If you want gank - then a Shield tanked Launcher Curse is the answer, however you lose the cov ops function. --- Slot 10 Akemons Modified 'Noble'Zet 5000 implant +8% Armour FREE |

Edited by: djenghis jan on 09/10/2006 08:15:41 The idea of this setup is sneak attack. I have been in 0.0 for some time and had great fun. Afk for hours and then walk to the computer to scan for miners/ratters. You feel like a shark when you approach a battleship while cloaked. However, if you stay in a system where there is a pos and a little belt mining they are on to you after the first hit. So you can expect counter measures. Most ratters use ravens and they hurt like hell. so to kill one you need to wait until they engage a spawn and then take their cap in a hurry. I use 20 km scramblers in stead of 7.5 km because the ship is too slow to take advantage of the spawn. Also you want to avoid the 7.5 km smartbom some of them have to counter frigs.
Point is i want to take their cap before they finish off the spawn. Therefore i need maximum cap drain. I can use EW and it is effective, however it is more of a defence than an offence weapon.
And yes, most battleships can tank your drones with ease so you need to kill the harderners and the repair unit/booster before you can do anything
