As the title says, no faction stuff just tech2 or named. In particular the 2nd room of 4/5 where you need to take out the stargate. If anyone has done this in a Raven please share the how. I have recently started level 4 and got through a few after extensive use of this forum. My char has 16m sp and been around for more than a year, so not a complete noob.
Also is a Vulture a good alternative on this mission?

It should be doable, aslong as you are able to tank a respawn it should be doable. I must say that I never had this mission (running caldari missions) but I think it should be doable. Set your drones on the gate and kill the respawns with your cruise/torps.

The only way that I have done this particular part of the mission sequence is to have a friend shield boosting me.
My kit is a Rattlesnake with a Gist B type XL Booster + Gist B type Amp, and tech 2 hardeners. The bad guys slice though that like butter. Cap is fine, just too much damage for the booster to cope with.
Friend pumping in 2-3 large shield transfers sorted it out for me.
The problem is that in some of the spawns you end up with rats dishing all 4 damage types.. one them doing HUUUUGE EM damage too if I recall.

i did that mission 2-3x in faction fitted raven *gist b-type xlarge booster, gist b-type boost amplifier) and it wasnt so hard.
i was able to destroy the stargate with torpedos fast and no respawn happened.
i did however jumped to second stage instantly after killing last rat in first stage.
i dont remember how many torpedos did i need, probably 2x full load of 6x armabelst siege.

I do not see why a Tech2 fitted Raven could not do this mission. I am currently doing 4/5 right now as I am typing this in a Domi. Funny thing is as my drones and perma-tank are going I am looking up how to train for a Raven to do missions faster. The drone bugs are getting to me, making big missions take forever to complete.

I've soloed IMOD in a T2 raven a number of times, though I forget the exact setup (hardeners, missile type) atm. Pretty much:
T2 Cruise launchers, T1 cruise
XL shield boost, electochem cap boost, boost amp, 3 hardeners
3 bcs, 1 cpu, 1 pdu

I am thinking about this as a setup for this stage:
Hi: 6 x Cruise II (Cataclysm), 2 x E500 NOS
Med:XL Shield Booster II, F-b10 Cap recharger, 2 x Heat Dissipation II, Photon Scattering II, Invulnerability II
Lo: 2 X PDS II, BCS II, Co-proc II, Internal force field array.
+ drone bay full of Hammerheads I
My question is, will this be enough to tank while I take out the stargate? and/or should I be using siege? |

Not sure on your skill levels... but iv'e discoverd that an eos (absolution might be better than).. with a couple of corpum reps with 5 heavy armour drones boosting it.. can cope with the full spawns on all the mist levels battering it at once.
4/5 first room is probaly the hardest of the lot... but it doesn't drop bellow 50% armour regardless.

I didn't think you could use armour rep drones on yourself?

Just an update. I tried and failed. Thought I had a good setup to bring the stargate down fast.
Hi: 6 siege t1
Mid: XL SB, 2 EMP t2, Therm t2, invuln t2, Cap booster (800's)
Lo: 2 PDS t2, co-proc t2, DG (best), BCS t2
Back to the drawing board and L3 to bring up my standings again.
At least it was insured. But the key is gone and I did not bookmark (duh!). But as the saying goes "I'll be back"
