Ello Guys, Can any1 tell me if, when uve already started training for a particular skill and then u decide u'd rather train a different 1, does the `score' that the original 1 had reached stay logged or does it revert back to its original number count? Im assuming it does tbh but dont wanna try an experiment and possibly lose a new `book' ive just bought.
Does that make any sense lol?

Edited by: Amin on 28/10/2003 13:54:55 Dont worry it keeps the progress that you've made for that skill. So u can come back to it later to resume where u left off

It's fine to switch but don't Abort Training - aborting will lose you points.

It's impossible to lose an equipped skill.

AHHH! This forum REALLY needs a search function.. the same question asked over and over, then anwsered wrong! You can either switch skills, or use the abort skill button, either way your skill points WILL be saved. If your point are NOT saved report it as a bug. _________________________________________________________

I would also like to add that the ONLY way to lose skill points is to get podkilled without an up-to-date clone. _________________ "For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack."

One note to add, before you petition it, close your char sheet and re-open it, try redocking, try restarting game. If it's still showing a loss, then petition. Most times it's just a graphical bug.

------------------- QUOTE --------------------- Edited by: GM Abraxas on 08/10/2003 23:55:47 Both me and GM Xhagen have been testing this extensively for a while now. If you "abort" a skill, you should keep the points. They'll drop to the original value for about a second, then jump back up. I've spent a long time going through skill logs, for all kinds of cases, and I've never seen someone abort a skill and have their points go back to where they were at the beginning of each session. Zanthos, just do whatever. Switch skills, abort, what have you. You'll be fine. As for anyone who claims that the skill points will disappear: Petition this (in a while ... see below). They're not supposed to disappear. If they do, we need to find out about it. Since our skill logs are inadequate right now we can't do very much, but give it a couple of weeks. Then, if you see a skill drop the accumulated points, send in an "other" petition. Make sure to include the skill points you thought you'd made. We need those to be able to calculate if you could really have made that amount in the time you were training, and not just the amount you ended up with.

Seeing as how I'm being quoted and all...
The same still applies: You can abort a skill, and you won't lose any points. If you see the points drop back, try restarting the skill for a few secs and see if they don't jump back up. Or switch to another skill first and then back to the one you aborted. Or relog. Or clear your \cache folder. Or reinstall. Or buy a new computer. Or hold a Voodoo ritual under the full moon. Basically, do anything that will force a refresh of your character sheet.
What's happened is that the points for this particular session haven't, for some reason, registered with the client (your computer). They register on the server, though, and are added to your character.
For those of you actively monitoring this kind of thing, keep an eye on your total skill points. I'd be interested to know if they drop and rise again along with the skill you aborted, or if they stay constant the whole time.
Btw., keep in mind that I'm not a dev. If they ever decide to implement skill point loss, then everything Silverix quoted me on pretty much goes down the toilet. However, up until now, this is how it's been.
