I got my ship destroyed the other day by a player pirate. He didnŠt pod my (which was very good since I have somewhat neglected to upgrade my clone). To be perfectly clear then I donŠt hold any grudge against this player in real life, but ingame IŠm ****ed . Naturally I want to return the favor and daydreamed about getting corpmates and friends to ambush him in the near future. But my questions are. How many actually follow through with their revenge How many were successful and how long did they wait. __________ Capacitor research |

It's pretty rare, because it is almost impossible to track another player in this game without letting them know you are gunning for them, which allows them to get some mates, set a trap and toast you yet again.
I got payback once, only because the gate camper stayed on the same gate for days on end, was only in a BB and my mate got his drones out and attacking before he got locked down. Even then the rat got away trailing flames and smoke, but he did get a bit of a lesson.

Am I a carebear? I usually avoid fights because I quite frankly donŠt have the skills to back it up. I think going to a fight a cruiser in a battleship in a frigate alone is folly. But I donŠt whine when I get blown up and far from it am I against pirates in the game if there werenŠt any this would be a very boring game. Am I then a carebear and what is the official definition of carebear? __________ Capacitor research |

to you originial queestion
Most dont get any revenge, its very hard to get your corporation ready to go against a full force of pirates. If you want to be annoying you can declare war on SI and wait for us at gates in empire space, that might get you a few of our corpses.
When fleets do jump us its usually from by NVA or rival pirates, who keep it silent.

yeah I kind of expected that few people would get their revenge I just canŠt get this idea out of my head that somewhere there is a person plotting and scheming for months to get the guy who podded him when he was a newbie and then of course finally succeed. Of course when I finally would get his revenge he would probably have quite a few other people on his **** list __________ Capacitor research |

Admittedly the last time I had to get revenge for an attack was weeks ago. One of those "Crusaders 1000 A.D." loudmouths camped a jump-in point in a BB and fired on everything he saw - including my shuttle. He didn't even scratch me, but I was mad... I don't like serial killers; they are bad for business. So instead of threatening (and thereby warning) him I gathered one of my Caracals and an associate in a Rifter and went back there. Guess what, the hollow-head was still at the same place. His BB didn't even last 10 seconds after the first cruise missile hit. He went down when he tried to warp away. Pity we didn't get his pod as well.
The bottom line: don't threaten, just do it. At least that's my opinion.
Regarding the time you have to get revenge: I have to agree that it is very difficult to track someone down. So you are better prepared for that type of combat beforehand, since you will only have perhaps an hour or so to get your opponent. The longer oyu wait, the harder it gets. Out of the 4 times I have been out to get revenge for something since the beginning of EVE (gold), I only got my prey two times. The other two times I gave up weeks later, because I couldn't find the person in question anymore.
Btw, if anyone has information about the whereabouts of a certain individual called "Delzan", if he is still active: I would be very interested in that.

The fact is that in order to hunt down a pirate, you need to spend a very large amount of time and effort and for most of us it is just not worth doing that for a game. Heck you might spend a week plotting to destroy a particualr pirate who wronged you only to discover that the player is on vacation for the next two weeks or that he quit the game altogether.
Getting revenge in this game is so difficult that most sane people will just shrug and go on with their lifes, real and in-game.

I once swore vengeance on an ******* called "LawDog" who stole 100k from my corporate wallet (very early in the game - 100k was still a bothersome amount) and I went to great great lengths to find him.
Never did and he isn't even in the game now.

I bet that experience will make you less likely to go after the next guy who steals from you. Revenge is just not worth the time and effort it takes in the game and the result is mostly dissapointing.

You have the possibility to locate a person through an agent in the same region Dust Puppy, and if you find an organisation which give this kind of service through several agents, and hire some mercs, you can have your revenge ... Ask to Big Bang Burger Bar maybe they can help you.

So there are actually agents who offer region-wide "location" service?! I spent hundreds upon hundreds of agent missions to find one, but the only agent with location service I ever got had it only for one constellation - which is rather useless, to put it mildly. I still heven't given up on getting that market scammer who really annoyed me with his ridiculous (but nevertheless tedious) attempts to fool me into selling Hammerheads to him at 80 ISK...
Now I won't ask for the names of such agents, since I am sure they are prized secrets. But does anyone here have one and can actually tell me his/her agent level?

I got podded the first week I joined eve. (1. August) I carefully noted who was involved in my death. From that moment, the thought of revenge has provided my motivation to learn the skills necessary to one day get them.
Im in Eve for the long run. If it takes me years to get them, then thats ok because I have a goal and a mission in this game.

"There are, supposedly, some players with access to Level 4 agents which give a Universe-wide location service."
Level 4 agents offer location service for a region they are in, and the regions surrounding their location. Universe-wide location service is probably available to the lvl.5 agents.
... Which is pretty much moot given the lvl.4 and 5 agents will be disabled for the time being with the next patch o.o

well i can honestly say i have gotten revenge and it was very sweet indeed. one day i was flying a little frigate around helping my current corp with some mineing in deep space when one of the indys i was escorting got held up by Rixeh back when he was in The Gang, I beleive he was in a blackbird and I in a punisher I knew the odds were in his favore but I engaged anyways in hope that the rest of the escort would be able to get to me intime but alas I found myself in a pod rather quickly after he had destroid me and the indy and gathered what little he could from our cans he fled the scene seconds before the rest of the escort could arive after an hour or so chase we had lost him, cut to 2 months later im in a decked out maller and my corp CEO in a nicely equiped thorax stumble on Rix in a MOA in a 0.0 system at a gate near a system we had just cleared of some m3g4 and da dragons back when they had their little thing going, and made short work of him. now the reason this was so nice is when he destroid me and the indy the indy was empty and i was in an insured punisher wich i had bought at far below market price and had insured with stock equipment so neither ship was a major loss infact i made money off my punisher getting destroid. but when we destroid rixeh he was in a much more valuble ship with some nice loot equipment on

Nice grammar :P
Anyway, ingame, i actually like the idea of having pirates. Just not pirates who pod. First, it don't bring anything, second, it only gets people mad. Now i know that there are several jerks out there who just play the game just to irritate and annoy people, to the point of them leaving. I know several people who left EVE because of this.
I DO like the pirates onto themselves, if they pirate in a sporting manner, which pretty much are the ons who don't pod. Basically, I interpret this as a challenge: "Take me on when you can. I will be waiting for you"
But alas, honorful pirates (if you can call them that way) are rare at best. The pirates you can talk to in a civil way, not the ones who laugh at you and make childish threats and remarks.
I've got no objection to podding, but the way in which some people do it is just irritating.
Where are the criminals with honor? The playes who actually ROLEPLAY in this mmoRPG? I expect to see some people posting here and say "Hey, podding IS roleplaying". Well, do it in an appropriate way as in NOT just exploit the game's weaknesses (as in taking advantages of the superiority of EW and just pod cuz it's fun).
Should this be in Intergalactic Summit? :P
