Hey guys, which is the better ship for mining and which is better for combat? And which would i use if i do both? What is the best mining cruiser with at least 2 missile launcher, i like to have hammerheads or wasps flying around me so i need drone space also.

Hands down the rupture. More power/CPU to run yer stuff - 600 drone space vs. the stabber's 100. Plus it's rugged good looks...
No contest. |

Edited by: darth solo on 28/10/2003 17:33:27 For mining my friend use the Thorox.
For combat, really depends if its pvp or npc.
PvP blackbird/maller
NPC, moa/rupture. thorox is still good though and if u wish to use 1 ship for all, id use the thorox.
OOps just read your post heading, but got thrown off by u asking about the celest.
the rupture is the best ship, but isnt that lv2 to lv1 stabber, think that speaks for itself.

The Rupture is a better ship than the Stabber, but it is a level 3 cruiser while the Stabber is a level 2, and the Rupture will cost you 2 mil more. I think the Stabber is a fine ship and an excellent lvl 2 cruiser, and is easier to use for a newer player than the Bellicose (the other Minmatar lvl 2 cruiser). If you can run heavy drones or can afford 6 harvesters you should look at getting either the Rupture or the Bellicose. If this is your first cruiser I recommend the Stabber as they hold their value well and you can sell it off (or collect the insurance) and buy a Rupture when your skills have improved a bit.
Sure, everyone supports saving Einstein's brain, but when you put it in the body of a Great White Shark, suddenly you've "gone too far". |

Generally the two additional low slots of the Rupture offset any advantage the Stabber has i.e if you want to match speed fit a couple of overdrives, cargo expanders to get more space.
But main problem mining wise for the Rupture is that it has lower CPU than the Stabber so fitting everything you want in a mining set up might be a lil harder.
Basically mining wise if you want to use drones get the Rupture, if you dont want to use drones go for the Stabber. THough as people have pointed out there are other races cruisers that may be better suited :-)

I maintain a collection of ships just for kicks. All setup for hunting.
Lately I'm tuning into using level 2 cruisers more over level 3 ones because of the cargo space, which makes it more convenient to store loot or hold more ammo. I'm not talking just Stabber vs. Rupture, but also Vexor vs. Thorax and Omen vs. Maller.
Especially if you happen to find a free Heavy Drone in the cache container of a spawn site.
Rupture is a better combat ship undoubtedly, but I find the Stabber a much more convenient ship for all around purposes like exploring and agent missions.

Not quite as simple as that. If you use the additional low slots to compensate for speed, the Rupture falls short on CPU and cargo space. If you use them to compensate for cargo space, the Rupture falls short on speed and CPU. etc.

Yeah I have agree with this qoute. I have a rupture and I bought a stabber just for doing some agent missions since no matter how I set-up the rup the stabber worked better for doing the missions... I almost went back to flying a vexor since it would have been a bit better then the stabber for doing those missions but being minmatar I prefered to stick with a minmatar ship ;)
