few questions....
will Tech 2 be given out like Miner 2 BPs? if so, what happens to all rare loot prices?
will afterburner 2 BPs,expanded cargo 2,and microwarp drive 2, totaly ruin the market on LIF AB's, local hulls, and quad LIF MWDs?
or, will there be tech 2 rare loot that comes with all the Tech 2 BPs? ie. LIF 2, local hull 2, quad LIF MWD 2?
is there a list of tech 2 modules? how many are they? will all modules be getting a tech 2 in next patch or just a few?
anyone?

This is actually a quite touchy and important subject.
If they leave it alone farmeing will get a lot less profitable, if there are too many tech2 drops producers will whine. It has to be balanmced carefully, but since ccp usually make a item a total overkill or nerf it to uselessness I fear the worst.

Check it out for yourself. Looking through it myself, I would have to say no, it won't ruin things too much. It seems to me that the gains are relatively marginal.

Edited by: agrizla on 29/10/2003 00:07:56 Umm I'm sure I've read (in a CSM) that tech2 will never be dropped from npcs. Of course that is likely to become a "I wasn't aware of that" or a "the griefers will be crying soon" incident

I forsee a few instant billionaires followed quickly by the total collapse of the very market they used to make them rich.
Any method used to distribute tech lvl 2 will leave that item's market vulnerable to the greater peril: the highway system destroying any market variation on prices, guaranteeing the market collapses universally regardless of where the items are manufactured or by whom.
Any method used to distribute tech lvl 2 will leave that item's market vulnerable to the greater peril: a market system that essentially presents only 1 supplier/consumer due to the LIFO/+-1 isk system.
Any method used to distribute tech lvl 2 will leave that item's market vulnerable to the greater peril: blueprint licensing for the price =< the profit margin for the item actually manufactured - the issues of acquiring the minerals/tools required.
All of these factors combine to essentially guarantee tech lvl 2 items will neither last as long as CCP needs them to nor avoid frustrating the already frustrated to new heights of annoyance.
Or loosely translated: It's a pooch screw waiting to happen.

... Maybe if someone wrote their "I quit!" message all over the highway gates, they would have no choice but to remove them... :s

u dont get whats cousing the inflation, its the growing threats and pressures, now that it looks like a lot of ppl have bss everyone wants bss and making 200k isk profit on a 500k item isnt enough.. therefore they turn to 1.5 mil or something... and since no one dares to decrease (confusion about prices by sellers) the prices will not or rarely change... dont look at miner2s, becouse there is just more sellers then buyers kinda atm... im talking about other items, loot ones --- "this song reminds me of the girl i met on a schooltrip, she was really nice, and she really liked me. I forgot to ask her her phone number" - Nelix trist OMG im a pretzel!!! |

... A bug; those overdrives are actually tech.1 modules, but because there's also 'basic' overdrives, the 'system I' modules are marked as tech.2
There used to be more modules affected by this, but most is fixed now...
edit to answer the original question:
"will there be tech 2 rare loot that comes with all the Tech 2 BPs? ie. LIF 2, local hull 2, quad LIF MWD 2?"
There is 'rare' tech.2 versions for all in-game modules. e.g for cargo expanders there's "Gamma Hull Mod Expanded Cargo" (Amarr tech), "Mark II Modified SS Expanded Cargo" (Caldari tech), "Type-C Altered SS Expanded Cargo" (Gallente tech) and "Sectional Hull Conversion Expanded Cargo II" (Minmatar tech) ... all being improved versions of the standard "Expanded Cargohold II" module.

Edited by: Ana Khouri on 29/10/2003 23:00:10 It's quite similar to the Basic miner and miner 1. "Basic" items could be basically seen as techlvl 0.
And Jash, I agree. Tech lvl 2 could a) save the game b) be the last nail for it's coffin
Given the previous impressive performance of ccp I would bet on option 2.

*looks at TTI Database*
If any of this does get implemented, Tech II being introduced just seems to indicate that all the pirate drops will also see their equivalent upgrading somehow.
For example. Afterburners have stats and listings that go from I through V, but so do several of the current 'pirate drop only' improved modules, like:
-Catalyzed Cold Gas Arcjet Thrusters I -Catalyzed Solid Fuel Arcjet Thrusters II -Catalyzed Liquid Fuel Arcjet Thrusters III -Catalyzed Hybrid Arcjet Thrusters IV -Catalyzed Ionic Arcjet Thrusters V
I don't think we'll see blueprints for both the Afterburner II, and all its pumped up relatives at the same time. I think -this- is where reverse engineering might finally come into play if they get around to it.
Statisticly the improvements over the 'manufacturable' versions seem similar to what we have now, and I can only begin to imagine how complex, rich, and ... confusing ... things will get, both in market and in application, when we have 25 variants of 'Afterburner' in the game.
Multiply every basic item by 5 for tech advance variants, then throw in 2-5 variants for 'rare' versions, and we're looking at 10k + ship modules down the road. o.O Add to this module types that aren't even in play yet, and -their- improved versions (if any) - Cloaking, Tracking, Repair Projectors, Jump Drives, and other things they haven't thought of ..
Gah, information overload - The stuff better be somewhat rare or new players will be completely at a loss as the learning curve increases by several power.

U mean... just like Miner IIs are keeling the Miner Laser Loots market?? I remember fully well when CU Vapors were 2.5mil each... and even a time most ppl were wanting to sell them at 5mil only.
Now i see hundreds of Miner 2s on markets for 500k and realise that "Fully Player Controled Market" is basicly seeing alot of ppl shooting their own feet by constantly underbidding eachother :)
Moral of the story: Start saying bye bye to any loot drop market once tech 2 shows up.

I guess the only thing I know for sure about Tech 2 is its not on chaos. Tech 2 modules must be all basic upgrades on already tested modules. I'm just wondering if the upgrade on them is as extreme as the miner 2's were to the miner 1's.
afterburner 2's going to give 40% speed boost?
If any DEVs see this post by chance, make sure you give minmatar agents the afterburner 2 BP mission... wink, wink :)
