Is it viable to do a ransom exactly in the opposite way? Instead of asking for money in exchange for the ship's health, why not offering money for the ship itself? Let's say enemy is on a 50 million ship. You offer 10 millions for him to eject and leave the system. He does, you get your ship to a safe spot, get into the other's and dock them both. Has this been made before? is it useful? I don't see it mentioned in any piracy guide.

Well, let's see... if he gets blown up, he gets the insurance back (50 mil) but loses the ship and fittings. If he ejects, he gets 10 mil and still loses his fittings. In that case, getting his own ship blown up would be the better alternative for him.
Unless you can offer him EITHER 50 mil OR to give his fittings back and the difference to 50 mil, nobody'd take your offer and just get blown up instead. __ Always question everything. Including yourself. |

My mate once attacked an pilot in an unfitted Domi, who then ejected leaving the ship behind. As if this wasn't bizarre enough the guy had been wanting a Domi for ages but due to being a full time pirate couldn't afford one. Not that he asked the pilot to eject or anything, he just randomly did :p - - - - - - - - - -

It's more viable on the pretty much uninsurable tech II ships.
I'd self destruct before giving some griefing 12 year old my ship though.

Yep the honour part is important as well, but being a talented speaker and playing with the victim greedness, and taking it maturely can have a happy end, right? Being friendly with the guy, but leaving clear there is no way to escape safe.

Your title mentions the "reverse ransom". To me the true reverse is an anti-pirate making you pay him to save you. =) Perhaps another form of piracy...but its fun.
I've done that a few times. If anyone ever saves your butt from a pirate, you should donate a few million isk to that player anyway.

When I first heard of anti-ransom the first thing I thought was a pirate scrambling you and locking you down and then trying to offer you money and allowing you to escape. ___________________

I hope someone in ISS hierarchy is looking at this post.
Perhaps they changed their stated mission?

A corporation friendly to ours had one of their pilots just about a week ago got someone to eject from their Faction Navy Megathron, which was armed to the teeth with T2/Faction fittings in exchange for his pod. Guess his head was worth more than 1.5-2 Billion. ----- Griffin -- 100,000 ISK ECM - Multispectral Jammer Is -- 20,000 ISK Standar Missile Launcher Is -- 10,000 ISK War target sobbing over losing a fight in his T2 fitted Battleship -- priceless |

For the record, its impossible to "grief" someone with PvP in a game which encourages non-consensual PvP. Thats just what we call "playing EVE".

Please note my post has nothing to deal with my corp / alliance, it's just a newb question, which i'm not gonna try, I like my 0.0 sec status as it is, and it won't drop a point.
