I know I know this question is asked 1000 times. However, I will ask it again. It appears after playnig this game for 3 plus years now, that the issue of lag is still with us alive and kicking.
My question for CCP is this, "Will lag ever go away anytime soon?"
I thought the last server upgrades would have solved the problem. Did this dragon code bork the servers? Is Kali the answer? Come on CCP, get a handle on this lag monster. The game is becoming non-playable.
And no, you can't have my stuff....

I think they need dynamic load balancing, and I get the impression that its not possible with their current yarrware. I cant say for sure though... I dont remember them talking much about what causes the lag, and how they are planning to fight it.

read many times that more people in 0.0 and less people in empire would help the lag problem
if this is the case give us a real reason to get our asses into 0.0
here is a easy way to move at lest 50% of empire into 0.0 within a week!!!
your attributes increase by 20% if you spend more than 7 days in 0.0 , they drop down instantly when you enter empire! you can not enter empire while having a skill training [that stops people getting the attribute boost then starting a skill and going to empire]
that would almost instantly change the face of eve, and we would have a game with more people in 0.0 much more, and i dont think it would be hard at all to do this, probably one programmer one day!

If they really want more people in 0.0, I think they need more npc stations and less chokepoints. Basicly make it easy for people to get out there and set up shop in 0.0.
But that wont happen and I dont think it should either. Eve should be difficult, thats part of its charm. But that means alot of people will stay in empire too.

they can implement dynamic load balancing, but it would be alot of hard work. I'm sure there are packages you can buy to help with it though.
The eve cluster has become a very powerful supercomputer, its time they start running it like one. Have you ever heard of a supercomputer that can't move a job over all of its processors?
If they can't for some reason or another change the current servers to share processing power, then they need backup super-nodes that take over wherever a huge cpu increase happens (fleet battles). I actually like this idea alot.
Devs, we need some info on what you are going to do about the lag, a new ramsan, or some code tweaks aren't going to make this go away.
WHAT is the plan of action?!

As long as you have so many people on the server it's going to lag. The "one big world" concept is nice and all but...
Anyway, you'll not find me in 0.0 no matter what incentives are offered. I don't mind pvp. It's actually fun. However, I won't pvp in a game where what I've worked hard for can be vaporized in a few seconds by a gank squad.
Eve is something I do casually as a secondary task a lot of the time. Having to be constantly on the alert to avoid pkers is not my idea of fun.
