Okay I have read around and figured out how to calculate resists and even with the stacking penalty. My question is if I equip a explosvie hardener and a kenetic hardener do I incur the stacking penalty? And if I do which one gets hit with it? Or is is only for mods that effect the same resist?

If you equip an explosive and a kinetic hardener they will both give the full bonus since they affect different stats.
if you fit an energized adaptive nano membrane (15% to each resist) as well as an explosive hardener, then the bonus to EM, thermal, and kinetic resistance given by the energized adaptive nano membrane will stay the same. However, since the explosive hardener boosts the same stat as the explosive resistance bonus given by the energized adaptive nano membrane, they will be hit with the stacking penalty. --- "I hear it's amazing when the famous purple stuffed worm in flap jaw space does a raw blink in Hari-Kari rock! okay one more and thats it I swear. I heard you don't get a penalty if you are using active mods only passive... true?

No. the only things exempt from stacking penalty are rechargers, relays, and damage control.

sorry to ask here , but does anyone have links to penulty formulas ect? Your signature is too large. Please see the Forum Rules for the limits - Serathu ([email protected])

Ooouuu... so if I fitted an adaptive nano membrane, an invulnerability field and a damage control (the stupidity of such a setup aside), I would not get any stacking penalties even while everything runs? Neat, didn't know that.

No - the invuln field would be stacking penalized but the DC is not and the EAN does not affect shield resistances.
The EAN would be stacking penalized, but the DC is not and the Invuln does not affect armor resistances.
Since the EAN and Invuln dont affect the same attributes, even though theyre stacking-penalized modules, they wont stack with each other.

Wait...so an EANM and a DC causes a penalty? I was told that DC's were seperate and wouldn't penalize other mods...

No, they dont. As I said, the DC is not a stacking penalized module.

If you fit just a invuln field, and EANM, and a damage control, there would be no stacking penatly on any of it. All three mods would do their full affect.

Actually, if you fit ONLY one invul, one DC and one EANM, on any ship with shield/armor resists bonuses, you don't get ANY stacking penalities whatsoever, neither to shields nor armor resists.
The DC resists (both to shields and armor) come into play only after all other resists have been calculated, and is applied without any penality whatsoever. Resists given by ship (Ferox shield resist, Prophecy armor resist, etc) are also applied "in the end" and are NOT "stacking nerfed" either.
Any other type of resistance enhancement EXCEPT ship and damage control are calculated in the following manner:
SORT all resists that apply to same attribute (for example, shield kinetic) in a decreasing sequence. Say, you have a T2 invul, a T2 active kinetic hardner, and one T1 invul. The ordered sequence is then -55%, -30%, -25%.
APPLY the following modifiers (approximate values, rounded to two decimals): 1st in sequence, remains the same (*1) 2nd in sequance, *0.87 3rd in sequence, *0.57 4th in sequence, *0.28 5th in sequence, *0.11 6th in sequence, *0.03 The rest you can just ignore. Anyway, you can see that adding more than 3 resists in same field is of limited use, while more than 4 is downright useless.
For our previous values (55,30,25), we get "effective" modidiers of approximately -55%, -26.1% and -14.25%. In other words, for an usual shield kinetic resist we get: 40% without hardners 73% after T2 active hardner 80.05% after T2 invul 82.89% after T1 invul
Now, if we had this setup on a FEROX flown by a pilot with BC L4, that's an extra (non-penalised) 20%, which brings us to 86.31% kinetic resist. If we also had a -10% shield resist damage control (agin, no penality), it goes up to 87.68%. ___
So, basically, that's how you compute the stuff for each resist separately. __ Always question everything. Including yourself. |
