Not sure if this has been posted.
I would like to see my drones warp away when I do. In pvp, a pilot warping into battle is already at a disadvantage for having more balls. Then they have to deploy their drones while already being locked by those already there with drones already deployed. I don't see any reason why this wouldn't be beneficial to pvp, and it would also be nice for those who have to warp away from a gank squad and can't get their drones.

only Carrier Drones can do this... it's good the way it is...
and if you read the backstory... drones are simply to small to have warpcores... and don't have a pilot... Second sig removed, only 1 signature graphic please - Xorus ^_^WOOHOO!!! my Sig finally got nerfed... i'm 1337 now |

as fighter drones are the size of a small cruiser, and have the warp cores

Plus, while you're warpinh out fo somewhere while having your drones attack something, do they just instantly stop and come along for the ride as soon as you start warping?
Maybe if drones disengaged as soon as you hit the warp button, other than that it could easily be exploited for "hit and run" tactics.

That brings up a good question:
What's wrong with hit-and-run tactics?

All I would like to see (and I would really like to see this) is that when you warp off they appear in your "Drones in Distant space" and you can then warp back to them (same as you can warp to a gang member) and when you arrive you regain control again. You would also need a right click option on the drone to 'break connection' in case you wanted to drop them and deploy new drones.

you can deploy drones whilst you are locking (what else are you going to do?)
yes make them appear in your "drones in distant space" so you can warp to them. or how about when you warp off your drones will try and approach you, this wont help with the warp in, but if you warp out at least your drones will try and run away.

OK, so how about this. When you hit warp, your drones will automatically return to your ship bay while you concentrate on staying alive or whatever the case may be. And for arriving on the scene. In the time it takes me to activate mods, and deploy drones after deciding who i should even target (if there hasen't been a primary) I have already had a lock for a couple seconds. Sure sometimes your mods are already activated, but not always. And say your drones are already out and someone engages you before you can (do something) your drones will start attacking even if you don't have a lock yet. BAH, Ogres have layers. You get it!

Risk v Reward for one thing. You warp in, attack a guy in a belt, and warp out to a safe spot (perhaps even a deep one because you're deathly afraid of scan probes). The guy, has no chance to attack you, so your risk is literally zero. Especially with t2 drones and drone boat bonus's, your drones get good damage on your target, and a weak hulled ship like a frigate would die under their assault.
Hit-and-run really should be limited moreso to not warping away, but dictating range via a high top speed, as it is with MWD.
Another thing, warping takes barely the amount of cap away, so when you come back for another hit you're still at near max tankability in your ship. If you use MWD for your hit-and-run, your cap dies a lot faster and this increases your risk to a more fair level.

On the other hand, having a "return all drones to ship and scoop all drones too" hotkey would be very nice indeed.
Or a checkbox option of "when I initiate warp, recall and scoop all drones first". Or even a second sub-checkbox (only when above box is checked) with "...and wait for all drones to be scooped before warping".
Useful ? Heck yeah, especially when disconnecting. __ Always question everything. Including yourself. |

Nah, I think the drones shouldn't warp with the pilot if you warp out of a fight.
However, there should be: - a hotkey to deploy drones (configurable by group of drones) - a hotkey to recall all drones to the drone bay - a hotkey to order the drones to attack the current target - a way to reconnect/reclaim drones left in space by getting into range of them; put a slight time delay for the connection to be 're-established' and get a skill to shorten this time, like for targetting. - a way to know the status of a drone in the drone bay (hull/armor) - a way to get the ACTUAL stats of a drone with bonuses applied, like for fitted guns - a way to get our drones combat logs. How the hell are we supposed to know how effective the buggers are?
Did I mention I'm Gallente?
As this is slightly larger than the scope of the original thread, I'll start another thread with it...

maybe a compromise would be if your drones are within 6km of your ship when you warp, they get caught in your warp field and warp with you, but at a 50% decrease in your warp speed.
If you drones are further than that then they get left behind.

This idea whilst it would be nice it would be too much of a freebie for drone-boats which already have insane DPS after they web and approach someone.. now you propose automatically scoop drones in warp?
Drone malfunctions should be part of the game, maybe you should have to abandon one every once in a while. They're not that expansive so you'd get over it.
As for confronting enemies with their drones deployed, well, here's a tip: You don't have to, you can always deploy drones and wait for them, right?

Agreed on the malfunction, would be more realistic; ships should have that too.
As for 'not that expensive', tell me about it when you lose a full complement of Hammerhead II's or Ogre II's, they often sell at 4M a piece in 0.0...
