is CCP going to upgrade the EVE ENGINE to DX 10 ? . I ran the game in VISTA and it ran smoothly np at all. But still this game is based on old engine. But here are some rumored screen shots of EVE ONLINE running in DX 10

Love that quote!
Anyway, the devs will be rewritting/upgrading (Read:eyecandy) the engine for use on DX10 and vista, but the old client will still work/be supported.

Edited by: Feng Schui on 10/10/2006 01:27:49 that is, unless microsoft caves in, and allows DX10 to be supported by Windows XP and up.
And then, CCP might scrap the old engine in favor of dx10
note: your video card doesn't have to support dx10, since dx10 should be backwards compatable with dx8 - dx9 only cards

Quit being so damn paranoid, if you aint a software engineer who has spent the last 15 months working on vista aided with collab work with MS and you dont know vista inside out, then STFU.
Flame I know, but well deserved.

you beer consumption and humour levels appear to be too low, to believably pose as a software engineer.

You may have meant some liquid form of caffeine, as the good File mentions:

All you wanted to know about EVE Vista, DX10 and more in Redundancy's Dev Blog from earlier in the year. The information might be a little dated, but probably more than enough to answer what questions you might have about upgraded EVE graphics.

Real men also manage their own memory, and to do that, they need the staying power of caffeine to keep them up all night while they hunt down that one memory leak that's been evading them for the past 13 hours. None of this whimpy reference counting stuff they're teaching kids these days
In all seriousness though, real programmers who actually do it for a living would probably use a library that doesn't leak to allocate their memory, since they have deadlines to worry about. It's the bums living in their parent's house that have the time to allocate and manage their own memory.

Rumor has it that even DX10 won't run on Vista properly, or at least at any acceptable framerate.

Thanks that answer most of my Questions, but wont CCP have to develope a while new engine based on DX10 API ? because they cant upgrade current 3 years old engine.

You DONT need a new OS and a whole new Version of Direct X JUST to improve your graphics, and by the sounds of it, by the time they get around to upgrading the graphics in Eve we will all have Titans

Yes but you'll only be able to play DX9 games on it as it won't support games that require DX10, halo 2 for example will most likely be DX10 only, also the new vista EVE client will most likely be DX10 only, in short its going to require an upgrade to continue playing new games once DX10 has established itself and game companies switch to it :) ---
