OH, NOES, I only get 7 FREE days instead of 14. SCAM!!!!!
Seriously, maybe you got one of the 7-day buddy trials instead of a 14-day one? Or as above?

There are three types of trials you can get.
One is a 7 day trial directly from CCP that you get a code for by clicking the "signup" button in the ad at the top of the main page. You might have also gotten it from someone else who harvested keys from the site instead of signing up with the free affiliate program.
The second is a 14 day trial. You get this type of key by receiving a Buddy Trial from an existing EVE member, or by following a link on an affiliate's site. There are many affiliates out there on the Internet, and it cost nothing to become one if you run a web site. Most trials are 14 day keys from these.
The third trial is new. It is for 20 days and is only available through promotions. The only way you could get one of these (that I am aware of) is by having preordered a booster box of the new EVE: The Second Genesis collectable card game, or by having CCP hand you one themselves when you visit their booth at a trade show. These 20 day trial keys may continue to be given out with booster boxes of the CCG once it is released at the end of October.
I don't know if there is a way to distinguish between what keys are for what types of trials.
If you did get a 7 day trial and feel that you need more time to evaluate the game before making a subscription decision, you are welcome to get another key for 14 days at any time. Though they will make separate accounts and so whatever items/characters you have now will not be on the account started with the new key.

Yes, it's terrible that you can play the game for at least 7 days without plopping down any money for the box.

I wonder if they are/were including full GTC codes with the card game? 30 day card less the 10 day account creatation fee would give you 20 days to "try" the game. If anyone is using one of these trials I would be interested to know if you can use features such as "Give Money" or train skills like the various Industrial ship skills.

They are but only with the retailer's orders of the product.
Expect any freebies of this sort to be 'misplaced' before they reach any actual customers however.
