Folks, I currently declien this mission due to the hideous looking damage output of one of the spawns from eve-info, how hard is it, and whats the technique to complete it? I can use either a gisti raven or faction fit Absolution
All advice welcome, its the only one I regularly turn down now.

if you have a gisti fit raven then you should have no problems at all with it. I did it a few times in a tech2 raven only having to warp out once or twice.

what technique are you using? max range pull? whats the rat damage range? i.e. are they all sub-40K damage rats? In which case I can do a gun and run job with the Absolution :) How far from the rats are you at Warp in?

i did it a hundred times in my T2 fitted domi.
its fairly easy. the worst thing is the looks of the mission. upon aggroing you get so much ships on you, you simply have to think "zomg they gonna fry me" but the damage isnt that bad after all.
2xactive therm & 2x active kin hardeners, plus a lot of range before i aggro is all i need.
if you wanna be on the safe side: warp in, turn around 180¦ move away. when you at about your max targeting range, shoot the nearest enemy. keep moving away constantly.
thats all

a lot of it varies in range, only a few of the battleships orbit further than 40 id say. Kinda scary seeing 40+ missile throwers launching at you when you pull the groups, and usually they dont " pull evenly "
( like the groups separated in eveinfo. usually you can pull the first 2 , and then the 2nd 2 for the last stage with the mammoth , 90% of the time in my domi , i poke 1 and get em all. and thats a overview full of em all after me. i havent completed that without multi warp-outs in my domi... and then i gotta crawl back the 60+km to the first gate. bleah , moneys very good tho..
Team work is essential... It gives the other team something ELSE to shoot at!

hmm. i dont understand, that so many people find that mission so hard. yes, you sometimes get both spawns on you, then you need (for a domi) 2 large reppers, and youll have a little more damage incoming than you can repair. kill off some cruisers, and youre good.
really, this was one of the first lvl4 missions i did, and i did it ever since. iirc i started to do it in a t1 domi.
and IF youre quick, and want to have the hassle, you can loot both pockets afterwards, which, on top of the really nice bounties nets you about 15 to 30 mil altogether. if not more, i cant recall exactly. -- Only you can save MMORPGS - Stop whining today! |

Edited by: Topodo on 10/10/2006 14:59:52 I do this in my Gist tanked Raven (B-type XL booster) along with a shield boost amplifier, 2 T2 kin hardeners and a T2 thermal hardener. I use kinetic weapons (I could use kinetic drones but T2 thermals do me fine).
The agro I get really isn't all that hard to manage. I usually try to target the ship closest to me or a ship close but far away from everything else in an attempt to not pull too much. I have yet to get full agro (the L3 one is much worse in this regard).
I usually send my T2 light drones against the Bounty Hunters, making sure not to send them in too soon so they don't pull agro from yellow flashers. I also fly away from the approaching armada to avoid being overwhelmed with orbiters.
Many times I'll try to nail the MWDing cruisers first (I like to take out the Lions, Bobcats and Cheetahs first). I usually just send my drones against the frigates, and many times save the BS's for last. Of the cruisers, I usually kill the Pumas and Blackbirds last.
In the final stage, I'll save the Mammoth as the last opponent and just drive up on him, unleashing everything I have.
If there is any reason I turn this mission down, it's because I'm currently grinding up LP's and this mission usually takes me 70 minutes to complete. So it has a low LP/minute rate.

In a Gist x tanked CNR with low grade crystals I aggro closest spawn while charging to gate full speed. By the time 2/3s are dead the 2nd lot wake up and about 30km from gate they are all dead.
2nd level just sit there and kill frig spawn followed by next closest. Once aggro'd everything by mistake here and was ok, but a little scary... got the cnr to about 1/3 cap.
Time to complete is about 35mins but often turn down as it's to much clicking.
Any gist tanked raven will solo this easy in under a hr, just always kill cruisers first as thats where most the DPS is while your drones work on frigs. Fit two kin and 1 thermal hardener and your pretty much immune to serious dmg.. hit them with T1 kinetic cruise.
If your not sure about your tank sit still rather than charging the first gate and dont aggro 2nd spawn till 1st dead.
edit: unless your ROF is in the low 7s at the very least, your tank is going to be tested.

hey hey
TBH this mission kinda sucks now. :( the first time i did it i went with a friends. we lost a gila :(
refused a couple of times but got anoyed that it was a mission i couldnt solo.
Took a Claymore. and its a cake walk. As usual i tanked Kinetic 2x invul 2x Balistic I's. Even with all the agro i barely used the booster and didnt drop below 80% shields. The mammoth was a prob but still went down. Yes Commands are a pain to train but Tempest has just been retired.
its been more painfull doing Pirate Invasion in my experience. Still going to refuse the mission as its long, tedious, and has very little reward. the LP was lower than my normal missions and the loot was pants but expected as the bounties are higher.

My tactic is simple: .Keep your distance'. Fit an AB in your ship, start your attack at your maximum targeting/shooting range.

I did it with mabye 2mil sp in my raven, it was quite easy, even though I was using torps. I basically sat and took it while my drones did all the work. My only gripe with the mission was the rediculous tank on the mammoth, I think I had to call in help for that one.

It's easy in a Raven or in a Cerb, but it just takes too much time for me to kill all enemy ships (more then an hour, something like 80-90 mins) so i just decline the mission.
As for my stile i just shoot from 130 km (with AB), bounty hunters, then cruisers, then charge to remove BSs and frigs with drones.
As for Cerb it can tank whole pocket, so it's not even an issue.

Well my tactic wont work for all,but whit 2 accounts i use a different aproach.I use 800 cap booster on my raven to tank them, and just sit still and take the beating.Got my alt on the other account in a badger whit extra caps in cargo.Cans are easy to scoop in after since most of them are close to me

Edited by: Lubomir Penev on 12/10/2006 14:50:37 Get a friend in an Enyo, put 3 heavy shield maintenance drones on him, let him take the aggro. Have him tag targets for you to shoot until he get full room aggro so you don't get accidental aggro.
I was the friend in an Enyo for someone, a bit scary not seeing your ship under the explosion but their guns mostly miss and missiles do very small damage, never went below 80% shield as 3 large shield maintenance drones repair a crazy amount of shield every 5 seconds ans the natural resists of the Enyo are perfect against Mordu's. Full room aggro in second room was very sustainable.
That way you have someone to handle frigs for you and you can fit full gank with painters and damage mode galore.
The Enyo pilot just must kill the bountyhunters quickly if he get webbed he will start to be hit by turret fire and then the drones may not be enough...
