It's pretty horrible and sadly more common than we might think. My dad used to be a magistrate and he would always end up really quiet after sessions in family court because of the sheer amount of awful things he would end up hearing.
I remember him telling me one time that they'd had a women up in court for harming her own baby. Apparently her boyfriend had said that she loved the baby more than she loved him, so to prove it wasn't true she picked the baby up and threw it against a wall...

If I was a judge Id send her on a 2 week "anger management" couse and then give her custerdy of all her kids back and a new place to live. Id also forget to inform social services of her past problems and move her out of state so that anyone from the law inforcement agencies that have delt with her before wont have the chance to check on the kids to see if they are alright or not.

pfft...its probaby her that drove the father insane. If I was arguing with my wife/girlfriend and she picked up our baby and swund it around like a pillow smacking it into things Id go insane too and do anything I could to stop her action. She deserves everything she got.

Pretty much pointless to make assumptions on what actually happened, only her and her boyfriend know, and you can bet they aren't telling anyone else anything but their side of the story.

It depends on the situation. In most cases yes, but for example if you are about to fall out from a skyscraper you will automatically grab onto anything you can, and if that happens to be something that you end up bringing down with you in the fall then it's still just a reflex.
If you panic you do strange things. She probably paniced.

she probley didnt get beat up utnil her BF was tryign to get her to stop using the child as a weapon... someone caleld the cops and got the kid to the hospital and i doubt it was her.
The Us legal system ahs a habit of going soft on women and hard on men. for instance 27 yr female old teacher sleeps with 14 male yr old student... that means house arrest. mean while 19 yr old male sleeps with 16 yr old female then that means 5- 10 years in prision for the male.
The Us media has a habit of makeing females heros even when they are not. example that girl that was captured in iraq. While ignoreing male heroism such as more then likely here where the BF/Maybe father stopped the crazy woman from swining the infant like a baseball bat.

this is how fubar the US family court system is
i've been thru 2 divorces, 1 as a child of a divorce, 1 as the male involved
in my parents case, my father admitted in court to abusing my sisters, yet he still had visitation uptill the youngest turned 18(not that he could visit, with being in jail half the time for failure to pay support)
now in my case, I almost lost visitation because I WORKED to much. in order to pay the outrageous sum of money my support payments were, I was working 3rd shift 48hrs and 1st shift 8hrs a week(56hr work weeks every week), because of this I was unable to call at the court scheduled time 4pm(i'm sleeping), and the court system accused me of not caring.... in the end I got back with my wife, and it became moot but thats a long story

Man, this was in my hometown, I almost crapped when I saw it on yahoo, making world news. Crazy thing is, they guy (father) is actually defending her, and they say she was just "stressed". Crazy people out there.
