Edited by: Cpt Max on 10/10/2006 17:36:03 Greetings Pilots,
I have just spent the last few days putting together a rather large and fairly complete Member manual for my corp.
Its in a PDF atm, Removed while i change something :D
Obviously i have removed some sensitive info from here, but have a look, i would be glad to accept comments on anything i have missed or overlooked and i am willing to supply this to others in a text format on request.
This might save some people from starting from scratch or give you an idea on what should be covered. it is 30 pages long atm and covers almost everything.
Please let me know what you think
Best Regards
((if you think this post is in the wrong area, please move it, it is rather general tho and i thought this was the best place)) CEO

Excellent resource and some damned fine common-sense stuff in there. Couple of things though... Any reason why ur not allowing entry into deadspace complexes (if I read it right) and secondly, I usually give longer than 7 days for a trial before access.
Nice one!

Interesting, I didn't have enough time to read all of it. From the outside it looks pretty strict, but hey, sometimes you need to be

content = ok
tone = hectoring
you must do this, must do that zyz
all these things you might need to do - but sounds like a straight jacket
try to break it up with some humor - or bit of RP etc, majour thing i look for in corps is the precnese of a sense of humor
All the right letters - just not nessacarily in the right order |

I gave it a fast read, very detailed.
Only feedback I have is perhaps use a smaller font size to reduce the number of pages, plus don't forget punctuation and grammar. Also, some images would be nice of the corp logo with the Xelas Alliance logo present somewhere on the header / footer.

Content wise it was ok, though brief in many areas, I recommend adding more details in several areas, there is a lot of content written from the stand point of assumed knowledge. Even if this is expected of members, its best to explicitate state this somewehre to avoid confusion.
The tone I pick up from reading this is you are demanding 33 pages of rules. I understand there are a lot of policies and requires to be sorted, but less overbearing tone in your writing would make the overall content easier to swallow. Your the CEO, but it deels

thx for the replies guys,
it originally started off as a colelction of eve mails,
then a text doc, now a pdf. formatting wise i have a loot of options, but its just the raw text atm. i will be adding pics and diagrams etc, in terms of assumed knowlage, yeah we didnt want it to be a complete guide to eve. its rather long as it is, and i will start to condense it soon, lowering the font etc.
thx again for the replies tho :) CEO

personally and this is just my opinion, dont run it like a business. At the end of the day people dont want to play with a rulebook and procedures. Think more of it as a group of friends with common goals and interests and thats about as formal as you need get.
Its just that when i get home from work, i would not want to logon and go to 'work' again. Fun isnt really found at the bottom of a 30 page procedures manual imo :)

as a player with not much of a clue on how to run a corp/alliance, this was a great read, you gave me some info and details on how things work with the " big boys"
oh and to the comment about it being a job - heh , isnt Eve always been EVE: The second job. ya i had to quit my forst round in eve, cuz it was. the obligations in eve at that time made it most definitely a job . BUT. the more happy people you get in your corp , the more the work can be spread out.
Team work is essential... It gives the other team something ELSE to shoot at!
