I have heard bits and bobs from peeps in game and its hard to get an answer from help channels so I came here
My question is once I have refined my ore where do I sell the products of it?
The tuturial tells me to right click then press sell but im sure it said somewhere in the tuturials something about selling the more expensive ore on escrow? ( the tuturail didnt really explain it very clearly as im not sure waht escrow is).
Just wondered if anyone could explain this to me or point me to some sort of guide about selling differnt ores and indeed other stuff. tyvm in advance.

Edited by: Gadfly Hawke on 10/10/2006 22:06:20 Right click on the mineral and click "Sell this item". On the window that pops up you will see two icons in the lower right corner. One is a magnifying glass. Click on this to see your region's prices for that item. There is another button, titled "Advanced". Click on that and you will get a new window that lets you set your desired price for sale.

You will find that many people will have place "Buy Orders" for your minerals, offering to pay very little sometimes.
Make sure you check what other sellers are selling for, before accepting the first price that comes your way. _______

Yes, this is correct. Usually the price you see is a low offer from other players.
The advantage to selling like this, is that you sell your goods immediately.
If you don't like the price being offered, click the "Advanced" button and set what price you want to sell it for. (You also get to set for how long your Sell Order will be up for). Your goods will be held at the station (by NPC merchants, I guess) until they are sold, or until your Sell Order expires.
It takes longer to sell with a Sell Order, but you get more control over the prices. (You can only have a few Sell Orders at any one time. There are Skills that will increase how many Sell Orders you can have, though). _______

well, when you rightclick and do simple sell, the highest priced buy order that has the range for your station, wins. At least that's my understanding. Nevertheless, the highest priced buy order, is usually pretty darn low. If you want a better exchange rate, as been suggested above, it's best you put up a sell order for your minerals and force the buyer to buy from you AT YOUR PRICE.
Buy orders are usually set at a price that basically rips off anyone willing to sell at that price. Think of it as market "gank". You don't wanna be ganked, do you? (I shouldn't say that, as it is my corpmates that profit from this form of ganking )
AFAIK I don't think NPC's buy minerals anymore, if ever.

All items, whether it is ore, minerals, guns, implants, whatever, sell by right click. There is no other rule.

Right-click menu sales for pretty much everything in the normal market. Rare and valuable items through escrow ("missions" button in station).
Whether you do an instant sale, put up a longterm sell order, or arrange a more complicated deal depends on: - what the available buy orders look like - how quickly you need the money - how many longterm sell order slots you have - whether you have a LOT of product to move
It may well be worth moving your stuff a short distance to fill someone's buy order - as a newbie your time is cheap, but people buying minerals don't want to do their own hauling. "Lots" is over 100m worth, at which point it makes sense to negotiate for the best deal.

If you check the market while in your home station, say AAA, and see that the highest buy order is in BBB, say 6 jumps away, and you take your stuff to BBB to sell it, then when you click sell the instant price will be that price, assuming that somebody else hasn't beaten you to the station.
Also, notice that some buy orders are highlighted in green on the market screen. All of these orders are valid in your station. If you instant sell, you will sell at the highest green price, even if the buying station is 40 jumps away. In this case, you don't have to deliver the goods, the buyer will come to your station to pick it up.

Usually true but not always. Green means that you do not have to jump to fulfill the order. (It can be restricted to a different station)
Also check the minimum qty. I know I certainly don't want to pick up 10 units of tritanium in every station.

Question...
On the Price History tab that shows the high, low and average price...Is that the price the item actually SOLD for? Or is that what the sellers have been ASKING? Or is it what the buyers have been OFFERING (setting up buy orders) for?
Thanks.

It's the actual sell price.
