Hopefully this is going to be changed with a future patch.
There are quite some alliances out there only for standings-easiness and sov...

Good Gods I hope not. You want to play with the big boys, you need to put your ISK on the table.
I actually think it's time for the formation prices to be upped to reflect the modern value of ISK. When alliances first came out, we cringed at stumping up 1 Bn ISK. These days many players have 1 Bn *personal* ISK, let alone the whole corp.
I'm thinking 100m to start a corp and 5Bn to Start a new alliance!

How would a new player start his own cop with that kind of price ? Crap, jsut thought of answer: Starting player does not wish to go into a player corp, but wants to make his own. Wait a minute, new player can not afford it very quickly, so what does he do ? He stays a bit more in the starting corp, tries harder to make money, makes some friends in the mean time and in the end they form their corporation and celebrate and stuff.
Simpler: new player buys GTC, sells GTC, makes corp. yey

Or if u change the veiw on it, Yeah i have 5bilj isk to start a alliance and put up some poses in a system. Yay i claim it, yay i have the station. And yay i do not need to defend my self, becouse that would be stupid in a pvp game.. So i can mine hole days and dont have to bother with stupid things like pvp...
Take away the sov thingy, and this might actully turn towards a pvp game again!.. Insteed off a put up poses game...

To start a corp costs <10million
To start an alliance costs 1billion (and a lot of skills)
But theres nothing to stop people creating an alliance for just one corp.

the concept of a 1 man alliance having more of a claim of a station instead of a 300 man corp is....... strange

i agree with that, there are already loads of dead corp that occupy names for nothing, wouldn't want this to happen for alliance's too, so i think increasing the bill for alliances is a good thing

Happening to alliances too, there are onces like FE,FA ASCN that are dead with like noone left as far as i'm aware but still noone can claim the name.
Who would want them I don't know but someone may. ------------------------------------------------ Minority report:Father Tommaso Caccini denounced Galileo's opinions on the motion of the Earth, judging them dangerous and close to heresy |

This is just silly. You really think its such a problem for one large corp to come up with 5 bil? I dont think so.. and then we are back to square one: 1 corp alliances.
The way I see it, there should be no diffrence between alliances and corps as far as game mechanics concerned (standings, sovreignty).
However, the diffrence would be in additional benefits, such as: decreased fuel costs, ability to build outposts (but corps still can conquer!) and last but not least of course the mutual cooperation between corps in alliance. ------------------ yay, the Deimos has been saved! |
